Car description

Up For sale is a 1985 Pontiac Fiero

This car was made from the same tooling & supplies that made the Pontiac Mera. If you do not know, the Mera is one of the most rare American automobiles ever made. In 1987 Pontiac dealers had an option on the Fiero order list, called "Mera." This option was a complete body-off replacement, Pininfarina style coachwork, that completly transformed the exterior of the car to be an almost exact replica of a Ferrari 308. Pontiac only made 247 Meras, before being sued by Ferrari, for looking to similar to their design. The tooling for the bodys and extra bodys were sold to a FEC. This car was made from that company using original Mera tooling and craftsmen.

The importance of this being completed using the Mera tooling & methods, is because Mera's the reproducers did not sell "kit-cars," but road tested, working, functioning, "no weird bugs or quirks", production cars. I do not refer to this car as "kit car" but as a reproduction Mera. The term "kit car" generally instills a sort of idea of a low quality, funky proportions, backyard build. This car is not any of those things. The fit and finish is the highest quality of any rebodied car I have ever seen. And we have been to ALOT of car shows. There are so many different things that insist quality when looking at this car closer: the functionality of the vents in the hood and boot lid, the perfect panel gaps, the relocated door handles in correct position, accurate headlight pop-ups and tail lights, exhaust and diffuser, bumpers, even the correct Ferrari metal slated grill and badges. The numbers do not lie, this cars wheel base 1.13" longer and 0.9" wider than a Ferrari 308. This is one of the main reasons this car looks so accurate to a 308, it does have any wacky proportions, it simply looks nearly exactly like a 308.

This particular car has been garaged and shown its entire life. It has 54,288 original miles. It is extremely reliable, fun to drive, very solid, with extremely good, direct steering and has been religiously maintained. This car also gets 30 MPG! It recently has had numerous service items completed including, new alternator, new battery, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, fluid flush, new brakes and new tires. It even has a high performance, high flow exhuast. It sounds very good and unique! The Rosso Corsa paint just underwent a professional 4 step detail and looks like glass. The detail only used professional grade polish and wax. The paint on this car is extremely high quality and looks as though you could dip your hand into the depth of the rich paint. She also has authentic Pininfarina badges, as well as the Ferrari on the boot-lid, rear light deck, nose and center caps installed. The interior of this car is largely un-modified (as Mera's were not either) minus a few Ferrari badges. The quality of the interior is outstanding. From the softness of the leather, with no rips or tears. The quality of the dash, without any cracks or warping. To the unstained or faded, never been eaten in, carpet. I cannot overstate enough the quality/condition and that everything works. From every gauge, the lights, the stereo, the speakers in the headrest, door locks, you name it. When you drive this car down the road it has no rattles or squeaks. Being a body-off Mera style build, this car drives as good as it looks.

I am at the point where I can no longer justify the spot in the garage, and it is finally time for someone else to enjoy. The sale is as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Please do all inspections prior to end of auction. Included in the sale will be original owners manuals, documentation, keys and spares, original tool kit and original jack accessories. Just today I took the car to our local Concours and I had a group of young boys run up and say, "Woah, is that a Ferrari!? Can we check it out?". It's not only children, at car shows most gear heads, myself included, are thrown off and believe through and through it is a 308. This car does not disappoint and I am sure its new owner will be very proud.

Good luck, happy bidding.
