1981 Ferrari Mondial 8 2V
49,000 miles +/-
Fourth owner – owned 11 years
Not a show car, but it is an attractive, reliable, well-sorted driver
Recent engine-out service including front and rear cam seals, front and rear crank seals, cam cover gaskets, valves adjusted, cam belts and idler bearings, flywheel surfaced, new clutch including friction plate, cover assembly, pilot bearing, throwout bearing. (see photos).
Car was disassembled, stripped to bare metal, and repainted using PPG Deltron products. Door bottom edges had new metal butt-welded in at that time due to rust perforation (see photos). Some paint flaws (see photos). Color is NOT a Ferrari color.
Headliner recovered with suede-look fabric. Some wrinkles. (See photos).
Seats and part of door panels were spray dyed a non-Ferrari color. Some wear on front seat backs (see photos).
Has custom center console including cupholders, place for phone, 2 power points. Have original console which needs recovering. Rear ashtray lid hinge broken.
A/C, windows, sun roof, power door locks, mirrors all work as they should.
Very nice fitted indoor cover.
Shop manual, electrical schematics, parts manual, owner's manual and original warranty book included.
Have some receipts back to 1996, all major receipts from my ownership.
All vacuum and coolant hoses replaced, but not fuel system hoses. Fuel hoses were inspected while engine was out and appear in good condition.
New battery.
Braided stainless steel fuel lines on engine.
No oil leaks.
No smoke or oil burning.
Normal oil pressure and oil and water temperatures.
Has 348 wheels with B F Goodrich tires. Tires have good tread and rubber shows no age cracks, but sidewall dates are old. Some curb rash on one wheel.
Some windshield delamination but it is within the black band.
Dash covering loose around defroster vent, passenger side.
Air pump is not installed, but is included. Turns freely. Other emissions equipment is in place but condition is unknown
Rear header insulation removed due to poor condition and has not been replaced
Has common 2nd gear stiffness until warm
System monitor panel, steering wheel lock, and the “you left the key in the ignition” dinger do not work. Those are the only things I know of that do not work right
One set of keys
Reason for selling: I bought a 1999 360 Modena based on the 11 fun years I had with this car. I expect a similar experience with the new car
A $1000 Pay-Pal deposit required within 48 hours of auction close.
Car is available for inspection at any time (with notice). I encourage interested buyers to inspect car in person (its a great time to visit Maine) or use the Ebay-recommended inspection service or other qualified inspector
Shipping to be arranged by buyer. For reference, online quotes to ship 1800 miles range from $800 to $1500
I have a title from when I registered the car in Pennsylvania. I now live in Maine and Maine does not issue titles for cars older than 15 years. Currently registered as an antique. Car will be sold with bill of sale only
