1979 Ferrari 308 GTS
One of 3,219 models made between 1975 and 1980 Recent timing belt and carburator service Fly Yellow exterior and black interior with beige accents Pininfarina design All-aluminum 3.0L DOHC carbureted V-8 engine with four Weber twin-choke downdraft carburetors Gated 5-speed manual transmission Power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, tinted glass and a rear window defroster Removable targa roof panel Included with factory tool roll, factory emergency light and jackFor Ferrari and/or Italian exotic car collectors who seek something different than another red Prancing Horse, MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS displayed in the highly sought after color of Fly Yellow. The lovely yellow exterior is complimented by a black interior that is accompanied by power windows, a radio and air conditioning. This unit was made in Ferrari's factory in Maranello, Italy in July 1979. This 308 was recently serviced in October of 2017 with new timing belts, idlers and the carburators have been fully serviced.
Finished in the highly sought-after Fly Yellow, the car's paint and trim are in overall excellent condition with minor imperfections upon close inspection. The windows are clear and intact, as are the car's lights, including the lollipop taillights, however the headlight and high-beam switches operate intermittently. This stallion rolls on Michelin 205/70R14 radials at all four corners and surround Cromodora wheels. The tires and wheels are in very good order.
All of the coupe's body panels are straight, including the removable black targa roof panel, which is signified by the "S" in the car's name and stands for Spider. The cargo area is in good order and comes with a full-sized spare tire. The engine bay is tidy, the battery is in good condition and the bumpers fit well to the body and look good.
The Dino V8 replaced the V6 in the next line of street Dinos to be produced by Ferrari, the 1973 GT4 and 1975 GTB "308" cars. Mounted amidships is an all-aluminum 3.0L DOHC carbureted V-8 engine with four Weber twin-choke downdraft carburetors that has been recently serviced and buttoned to a five-speed manual transmission with a gated shifter. Driver convenience features include power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, tinted glass and rear window defroster.
Inside, the contrasting black interior is in overall excellent order. The bolstered bucket seats, with beige accents, look great and are ready for the next driver and passenger. The black carpet is in similar condition, as is the matching instrument panel, which is crack-free and echoes the rest of the interior's theme. The factory, padded, three-spoke steering wheel is present and in very good shape, as are the beige interior door panels, which present an eye-catching contrast to the rest of the interior. The mirror glass is in good order, while the center console and shift lever are in very good order. Completing the interior is an aftermarket Alpine AM/FM stereo with CD player.
This Ferrari has participated in Ferrari Club of America events and has received two awards, which include a Platinum First Place and Gold awards at Ferrari Club of America events. Tool roll, factory emergency light, old timing belts from the recent service and factory jack are also included with the vehicle.
At the 1977 Frankfurt Motor Show, the targa-topped 308 GTS was introduced. All GTSs used a wet sump engine and were steel-bodied. European GTB models retained the dry sump lubrication until 1981. There were 3,219 GTS models made from 1975 to 1980.
Competition to this Ferrari in 1979 included Aston Martin's Volante, Chevrolet's Corvette, De Tomaso's Pantera, Jaguar's XJS, Maserati's Merak SS, Mercedes-Benz's 450SL and Porsche's 911.
This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 67,242 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
