We are pleased to offer 1957 Ferrari 196 SP Replica s/n ATL-12, a wallet-friendly, user-friendly, left-hand drive, alloy-bodied replica of a 1957 Ferrari 196 SP. Finished in excellent Ferrari red paint with comfortable and form-fitting full-leather seats and excellent panel fit. Fitted with a full-width wrap-around plexi windscreen and other event-friendly details such as four wheel disc brakes and Dunlop racing tires. Registered in Arizona and comes with its Arizona title with a 10/1957 first registered date (shown in the photos below). 196 SP Replica s/n ATL-12 was going through an extensive mechanical restoration and is powered by a Fiat Dino 4-cam alloy-block 206 engine fitted with three velocity-stack-topped Webers and exhaust side pipes to provide all the right sounds and a full syncro five-speed gearbox for hassle-free shifting. Features twin plug heads and a twelve-wire distributor. In 2015 the drive train was removed and disassembled ($5,532.00); the clutch assembly was rebuilt ($475.00); all three Weber carbs were rebuilt ($235.06), six new intake valves ($550.02) and six new exhaust valves ($649.92) were purchased, plus twelve new valve guides ($201.60) and twelve new valve guide seals ($39.00). A full set of six new CP-Carrillo forged pistons with rings and pins ($1,743.00) were ordered; the engine block head studs were removed; the engine block was decked and honed with head plates to match the new pistons. The new valve guides were machined and installed with all new valve seats in the cylinder heads. New head gaskets were purchased. A used Alfa Romeo rear end assembly was purchased. The total invoice was $21,761.47. 196 SP Replica s/n ATL-12 needs the engine rebuild completed, the trans and the diff rebuilt and the suspension re-fitted.
196 SP Replica s/n ATL-12 is nicely accented with a clear plexi-glass hood scoop. Four wheel disc brakes slow it down, Dunlop racing tires keep it on track and light weight makes for a very quick and user-friendly event car. Outfitted with an alloy fuel tank with an outside fuel filler. Excellent attention to details from the covered headlights to the hood hold downs, from the side vents and fuel cell to the user-friendly cockpit. With the original 196 SPs valued at well over $7,000,000, this replica is a nice recreation of the original concept and fully functional for touring events like the Copperstate 1000, the California Mille, the New England 1000, your local Cars & Coffee event or just for spirited road use. Priced below the cost of construction and below its fun factor as an unfinished project at $99,500.
