Car description

The 1983 Ferrari 308 GTS Euro in classic Red/Tan has a very limited production original brown dashboard and carpeting. This is truly a unique version in the US and only a very few of which were imported into the country using the demanding import regulations in place at the time. It is fully legal in all 50 states and is more powerful than the US counterpart. This one comes with a set of custom wheels that make it look more like a 288 GTO and will have some Ferrari fans fooled as well. These wheels alone are worth $5k! And in fact, ccording to wikipedia, The 288 GTO introduced in 1984 is considered as the first Ferrari supercar. The 288 borrowed much of the styling from the European 308 GTB QV of the previous year, 983."Top end of the engine has been recently rebuilt and is now bulletproof for another 25 years. It has a wide range of upgraded features that still keep originality in tack such as improved headlights, complete set of tools, eautiful custom leather manual bifold and a full box of performance parts that comes with the car.The car has 68,000 kilometers which is 42,500 miles. It has been meticulously maintained and has always had required service performed by a skilled Ferrari mechanic.UPDATE: I have both the aftermarket steering wheel and shifter knob that is installed currently and the originals which will be supplied with sale.**** NOTE THIS IS A EURO SPEC CAR SO VIN IS NOT LISTED PER EBAY POLICIES - I WILL POST IN COMMENTS BELOW OR EMAIL DIRECT TO YOU IF REQUESTED****Specs:• Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, anufactured or sold in 1983, ersion for Europe• 2-door targa body type• RWD (rear-wheel drive), anual 5-speed gearbox• petrol (gasoline) engine with displacement: 2927 cm3 / 179 cui, dvertised power: 176.5 kW / 237 hp / 240 PS ( DIN ), orque net: 260 Nm / 192 lb-ft• characteristic dimensions: outside length: 4230 mm / 166.5 in, heelbase: 2340 mm / 92.1 in• reference weights: base curb weight: 1340 kg / 2954 lbs• how fast is this car ? top speed: 255 km/h (158 mph) (declared by factory);• accelerations: 0- 60 mph 5.8 s; 0- 100 km/h 6.4 s (a-c simulation); 1/4 mile drag time (402 m) 14.5 s (declared by factory)• fuel consumption and mileage: 12.8 l/100km / 22.1 mpg (imp.) / 18.4 mpg (U.S.) / 7.8 km/l average estimated by a-c: 13.4 l/100km / 21 mpg (imp.) / 17.5 mpg (U.S.) / 7.4 km/lEuro advantages over the US version:Among the typically yearly updates to the performance and style of the 308 throughout its run, ars from the same series would have a number of differences between them depending on their intended export market (which is usual for European cars). For example, 308 destined for the American market would sport much larger heavier bumpers and a slightly sturdier frame (and many other smaller details) in order to meet more stringent US road safety standards.American market cars also suffered a performance hit due to a compression ratio of 8.6:1 vs 9.2:1 for most of the rest of the world state emissions legislation which reduced horsepower. As a result of these differences there is often a premium paid for the "purer" European spec car over the federalized car. Some differences between the Euro-spec and US-spec cars are shown below:- 240 hp Euro vs. 235 hp US- Different gear ratios.- Lighter, mall front bumper that follows the hood line on the Euro vs. 2.5 mph impact bumper that is extended and has extra "fangs"- Lighter, mall rear bumper (Euro) vs. impact bumper with spacer- Exposed dual tip muffler (Euro) vs. black muffler cover with catalytic converter- Vitaloni style outside mirrors (Euro) vs. larger flag mirrors that provide a better view for safety- No "fasten seat belt" warning light in Euro spec- Flash to pass driving lights in front grill in Euro spec- Space saver spare tire (Euro) vs. full size spare- Rear engine cover top has only a left and right grill vs. "U" shaped grill that provides a larger cooling area necessary for the added catalytic converter just behind the muffler.- Overall weight of Euro spec lower because of door beams and bumpers.
