1959 Edsel Villager Station Wagon
This is a cool old '59 edsel villager wagon. The old wagons are not around much anymore and the edsel seems to be a little harder to find for sale. There were 5687 edsel 6- passenger wagons sold in '59, and 7820 wagons total. In comparison, ford sold 269,368 wagons in '59. The body is in pretty nice shape. The car is complete including the original jack. It will need some work to be back on the road but is a great car to get running and drive, or a nice one to restore. Below are all the details. BODY
The wagon has a really nice body to use as-is or restore. It has very little rust but I'll detail what it has. Both front floor pans have rust starting. A few small holes in the passenger side. The drivers side is very minor with just a couple very small holes starting. They feel solid and could be used for a driver or patched easily with replacement pans. I've done several myself in other cars of the same vintage. Both front fenders have rust low in the rear corners that you can see in the pics. Patch panels are most likely available for the fenders, or '59 ford panels are possibly the same. The rust spots are small and could be patched with raw sheetmetal if new corners aren't available. The only other rust spot is low on the rear drivers side quarter panel, behind the rear wheel. That's and easy patch also whether you do it yourself or have a bodyman. The majority of the car is rust free. The doors, jams, hood, tailgate, rear clamshell window/door, etc. etc. are all nice. The paint needs re-done but I wouldn't mind using it as-is for a rat patina wagon. The roof, inner fenders, firewall, cowl, etc. are all nice also with no rust through or bubbles. The original keys are with it including the door keys. Montana does not salt the roads much and didn't salt the roads at all when this car was still driving. This came from the Havre Montana area, which is high desert country. It still has a metal parking tag on the back from MSU Northern in Havre.
INTERIOR
The interior is original and un-molested, but needs restored. If you want to use it as a low budget rod, you'd just need a floormat or carpet and a front seat cover. If your doing a nicer restoration, you'll need an upholstery kit or have it done by an upholstery shop. The rear seat is in nicer shape like most, but the front is worn pretty good and the upholstery needs redone for sure. I'm told that the radio may have been optional but not sure. The rear cargo area has no rust. It has a spare tire tub also. I have more pics I can send because only 24 fit on here. Nothing on the dash is cutup or anything.
MECHANICAL
This wagon is not running at this time. I had it in my shop and the motor wouldn't turn over. It had been parked for years before I bought it. I pulled all the spark plugs and one cylinder looked to have rust in it from condensation. I put penetrating oil in the cylinders and then took it out of my shop a couple weeks ago. I have not tried to turn it over since. Usually you can get the cylinder free'd up but I'm not sure at this point what the condition of the engine is. This is the 361 FE engine that is basically a ford 360 that they called a 361 because it's an edsel. The bore/stroke is the same as a 360 but this was not a smog motor like the 360 engines put in ford pickups about 10 years later. Other FE engines are direct bolt-in's to this motor and that includes the popular 390. I'm sure the engine is fixable but sometimes it's easier to switch it out with another engine or rebuilt this one if it's stuck. I have other hi-po FE engines so I didn't care either way, but I have too many projects right now. This has the automatic transmission. Non power brakes or steering. They steer easy anyways and they are easy to convert to power brakes and also easy to convert to disc brakes. The wheels/tires in the pics will not be included. It comes with the original 14" painted steel wheels and 3 of the original hubcaps. I may not have other wheels/tires to put on it for transport and if that is the case, I'll include the wheels/tires that are on it in the pics. The tires on the original rims are bad and don't hold air. I didn't put a battery in it but this year had the better wiring and I've seen no burnt or damaged wiring, so the electrical stuff is most likely fine. There is very little power anything on it besides the lights, heater fan, and radio.

This is a really cool old wagon and a great one to restore or just do some work and drive it as-is. This car is used (pre-owned lol), and 47 years old and sold as-is. Thanks.
