BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a highly detailed, otisserie restoration that was completed in 2013, his fully sorted Charger mixes killer street presence with classic MoPar attitude. Residing in Massachusetts for the entirety of its 47-year existence, he car was purchased by its second owner at a neighborhood yard sale in the summer of 1984. That owner, ntent on conducting a slow and steady restoration, ventually ended his plight two decades later when the car's current owner purchased what amounted to a rust-free, riginal body and many boxes of parts. And, own but not out, his mighty Dodge would spend the next eight years safely packed away, ith 2012 kicking off a 2-year, o-holds-barred restoration. The car's arrow-straight body, hich is original metal save for a few patches in its rear window channel, as completely stripped, ightly massaged and thoroughly block-sanded into a collection of virtually flawless surfaces. Once those surfaces were completely clean and fully prepped, heir all-business demeanor was reanimated in smooth DuPont 2-stage that reflects correct Bronze Metallic pigment. And today, his exclusive, ust worthy classic rolls as a spectacular 'show and go' piece that's so much fun it'll make you feel guilty!

There's just something about a broad-shouldered Dodge that appeals to pretty much everyone. Whether it's 'wow factor', sense of strength or simple surface detailing, his coupe's hard-edged, odernist panels convey classic Chrysler charm via clean and chiseled aesthetics. At the front of the car, n original, ual-port grille hangs a bright "Charger R/T" script between a body-width bumper, rtfully hidden headlights and round, ratzog-branded marker lamps. Above that grille, scalloped hood leads the eye to like-new glass that's sandwiched between a correct vinyl roof, raditional silver wipers and original stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, faceted profile centers "Charger" and "HEMI" badging between Chrysler door handles, tylish chrome mirrors and a familiar 'pit stop' fuel filler. And at the back of that profile, correct bumblebee stripe frames small taillights, prominent "Charger R/T" emblem, second body-width bumper and clean stainless exhaust tips.

ENGINE

Toss the car's long hood and you'll find an original, 26 cubic inch Hemi V8 that displays a famous 2468330 casting number and January (1) 15th (15) 1968 (68) casting date below a matching partial VIN. As the Dodge division's top option for power hungry gearheads, hrysler's legendary elephant motor utilizes cast iron heads, n oversquare bore, forged steel crank, orged steel rods, orged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam to twist stout 10.25 to 1 compression into a stated 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of torque. All that high performance hardware spins in a glossy, emi Orange block that hangs attractive, rganisol-coated valve covers over correct, ow-restriction exhaust manifolds. Chrome-cased original carburetors, ebuilt by Harms Auto of Spokane Valley, ashington, ork with a high performance, ast iron intake to supply a perfect mixture of fuel and air. Compression is sparked by high quality Chrysler Electronic Suppression cables, hich are jolted by an original, actory-tagged distributor. And resultant combustion is cooled by an original, 6-inch radiator that's fitted with fresh hoses and old school squeeze clamps. Visually, he car's Bronze engine compartment is clean and understated... Well, s understated as a classic Hemi can be. Thanks to a thorough rebuild, onducted by the experts at Hemi Haines, he car performs just as well as when it rolled out of the showroom. And there's quite a few restored, riginal parts, ike an old school fuel pump, rebuilt alternator, rebuilt starter and a rebuilt wiper motor.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Under this pillarless B-Body, lossy floors frame a solid chassis that's been massaged far beyond factory standards. Like its Hemi V8, he car's original 4-speed, hich is branded with a matching partial VIN, eeded very little work to be in tight, ike-new condition. That stalwart gearbox sends power to a correct Dana 60 rear end, hich is equipped with correct 3.54 gears. At the front of the car, hrysler's beefy Hemi suspension utilizes original torsion bars, n A12 sway bar and original power steering components to make quick work of big bumps and tight curves. At the back of the car, hat same Hemi suspension hangs original, orrectly staggered springs at the sides of a leak-free fuel tank. Stops come courtesy of correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust is handled by correct, rue-dual pipes, hich bend around an original, -shaped crossover, actory replacement mufflers and original resonators. And all this MoPar goodness rolls on original steel wheels, hich spin 225/70R15 BF Goodrich redlines around Bronze paint and fratzog-branded center caps.

INTERIOR

Inside this awesome Dodge you'll find a well-fitted interior that, ith the exception of carpet and headliner material, s completely original. The firm front bucket and rear bench seats display no significant signs of wear. In front of those thrones, crack-free dash hangs rebuilt factory gauges beside a correct radio delete. At the bottom of that dash, ike-new carpet centers "HEMI" branded floor mats on a long Hurst shifter and stainless-trimmed console. At the sides of that carpet, lashy door panels hang straight armrests, actory power windows and pliable map pockets under bright trim and orange-tinged "Charger" emblems. Above those panels, ld school shoulder belts frame a tight, lack headliner. In front of the driver, vintage steering wheel spins a satin horn ring around a monochromatic centerpiece. And behind the passengers, professionally restored trunk anchors a bias-ply spare between a fresh decklid decal, correct jack and a plaid mat.
