Car description |

This auction is for a rare car. It is a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. It is a numbers matching car that also has matching numbers on the radiator support and trunk lip. I have owned it for a few years and haven't had enough time to get it restored back to original so I decided to list it for sale. I have too many projects and not enough time for all of them. This Charger was originally red with a black top and black/white interior. It is a stripe delete car. It has the desirable 440 HP 4-barrel high performance engine with 727 automatic transmission (console shift). It is supposed to have under 1000 miles on engine rebuild done by a speed shop in Indianapolis. It was rebuilt before I purchased the car. It has the 8.75 rear end with 3.23 Sure Grip gears. The previous owner was in the process of restoring it when he got married. She didn't like the car...so it didn't get finished. It sat in a barn for a while before I found it. It has been stored indoors most of its life. It is a solid car but will need some repairs (as they all do). It needs rear frame rails (may be able to patch them) and other typical rust repairs for these cars (quarters, runk floor, utchman's panel, ear valance, ront fenders, tc.). The front floors will need a little work, oo. A lot of the rust can be patched instead of replacing panels. The grill is pretty nice (but is missing the Charger and R/T emblems). The doors are solid. All glass is good except for the windshield. It is a solid car that isn't hiding anything. There are no hidden repairs. I have started with much worse. It deserves a proper restoration. It is a rare car that will be beautiful again. This Charger has the fender tag. I decoded everything. It is an early built car with low serial number (one of the earliest I have seen). It was built September 7, 967. a6 console. b4 bucket seats. h7 fender/hood mounted turn signal indicators. m6 driver's outside remote mounted mirror. R2 Music Master AM Radio (Astrophonic). T7 tachometer. X1 tinted glass (all). Y6 black vinyl top. 25 drip rail moldings. 30 body belt moldings. 78 wheel lip moldings. A4 3.23 ratio. X8 Sure Grip (both rear wheels have power). TC Charger trim grade. R6 vinyl bucket seats. MW white and black interior. PP red roof. NP red body. T1 monotone paint. UW white horizontal stripe. S8 stripe deleted. XS29 R/T -- X Charger model line, Special, /T, 9 2-door sports hardtop. 83 440 4-bbl HP. 5 3-speed automatic (most applications). 46 F70x14 whitewall steel belted tires. 907 September 7, 967 build date. 124890 vehicle shipping number (also on body and engine and transmission). The car was built in the Hamtramck Michigan assembly plant. It was running with a gas can and electric fuel pump (due to rusty gas tank on car) and drivable but needs a couple of brake line repairs and possibly a better carburetor. It has a Holley 4-barrel carburetor on it now...but the original carburetor is included. The starter was changed (was on a 1968 New Yorker), ut the old one is included. It has an Accel coil and Accel wires...new cap and rotor...new plugs...and other new goodies under the hood. It will start up but won't stay running. It wouldn't take much to have it driving again. It does have headers and dual exhaust with glasspacks (solid system). It has shackles in the rear, oo. The Charger is sitting on a decent set of turbine wheels. It has a new ignition switch. The battery is good, oo.I have lots of parts to go with the Charger. I have the roof trim that was removed from it. I also have the trim for the windshield and also for the back glass. I have a new factory assembly manual for 1968 Chargers. I have the headliner bows, cover for the taillights (for inside the trunk), lots of screws and other hardware, tc. I have a brand new windshield for the Charger, oo. A set of wheel moldings are also included. I also have an extra used windshield gasket to include. The Charger was originally a black and white interior car (currently all black). The original panels, rm rests, tc. are included. There is also a black door panel for the driver's door. This is your chance to get a rare car. I am listing it only one time, o don't forget to bid if you are interested. It is for sale locally, o I reserve the right to end the auction early. I have three Chargers and tons of parts for sale locally as a package deal...or individually. It will be listed in three separate auctions...so check the other ads.I will be happy to show you the Charger if you would like to give it a personal inspection. I can assist with loading if you need help. I may be able to deliver it for a fee. Good luck and happy bidding!!!!! Don't miss out on this Charger.....Thanks.Matt785-817-7126On Jun-28-15 at 13:28:42 PDT, eller added the following information:
