Car description

1970 Dodge Challenger RT – Factory Original 440 Magnum “U” Code

You are viewing a rotisserie restored 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T. Original number matching 440 Magnum engine original data tag dash ID VIN and drivers door VIN tags. Extreme attention to detail was taken to completely restore this awesome Challenger to original factory assembly line specifications. Overall restoration costs exceeded $71000.

The 1970 Challenger R/T 440 Magnum “U Code” option was an upgrade from the standard 383 motor commonly found in many 1970 RT's. The big block 440 AVS four-barrel engine was relatively easy for the average home garage mechanic to dial in for street and even an occasion run at the local drag strip. Even back in 1970 this factory “Go Mango” Challenger was a rare car with only 970 JS23 vehicles produced. Most Go Mango cars came from the factory with the black vinyl top and interior combination. This Challenger is the epitome of what was "Hip" in 1970. Driven less than 150 miles since complete restoration.

This is a rare car in pristine condition and would make an exceptional investment that you can also drive and enjoy. Don’t miss out on a unique opportunity to own this vintage big block Challenger RT!!

Vehicle Condition

Mechanically the car runs like new which is to be expected with a completely rebuilt 440 – awesome power! It drives down the road effortlessly and is a real joy to drive! Bottom line –this Challenger RT is completely restored so mechanically it is essentially like your back in 1970 driving a new factory assembled machine. Paint is show quality perfect. Vinyl top is in mint condition. All bright-work (bumpers wheel moldings hood molding etc. are perfect. The Dash VIN plate drivers door VIN tag and engine compartment Data Plate are all present.

PRIMARY USE - Street driven show car.

CONDITION GRADE - Excellent - 95% of new condition. Shows virtually no wear paint and bright-work are perfect.

The restoration process included a mix of original re-built NOS and reproduction parts. The car will appear stock in a broad sense attention to the finer factory details are not adhered to.

EXTERIOR - Overall the paint quality is excellent. Overall panel fit and finish is about as perfect as it can be for a 1970 Chrysler vehicle. There is no evidence of rust or damage repair to the sheet-metal panels or frame. The "DODGE" hood letters are included but not installed.

INTERIOR - The H6XW white interior is perfect condition. Dash pad door panels headliner and seat covers were replaced with Year One/Legendary components. Dash gauges were restored and re-colored and look like new. All glass including the windshield is good. The factory installed AC works (blows cool but could likely use a freon charge due to winter storage). CHASSIS - Undercarriage is perfect. Factory simulated undercoating was applied during the restoration process. Exhaust system is perfect. The trunk floor is perfect.
