Car description |

It is hard to describe just how well this puppy runs... Even with the original 6 volt system, it starts every time it's asked. It runs smooth, and sounds great!! My buddy split the exhaust manifold and installed smitty's on dual exhaust. The Fluid Drive works perfectly, and as the 1949 advertising stated, it stops the wife from jerking the clutch (their words, not mine).... The brakes had gone south from sitting, so I installed all new brakes, and they now work perfectly...
I cannot begin to describe how nice the interior is. As I recall, he bought a LeBaron Bonney kit, and had a professional do the installation. It looks great, and is very comfortable. The window seals are still in nice shape, and it would appear that this car has never been left out in the weather for any extended time. The glass is all good, with no cracks.
There are a couple dents, but none worth fixing at this time. The chrome and stainless are all presentable, with one dent in the grille, and a couple dings in the stainless.
The paint, for the most part is original. I did respray the lower right rear quarter, as it had been dented and primed. I had the paint matched as good as possible, so it doesn't stand out too much. I had a friend in a body shop do the paint touchup, and then he lightly cut and polished the rest of the paint. Then he applied a coat of good carnuba wax. When I picked it up, I told him that I did not want the entire car clear coated to look shiny, as it does in the paint booth photo. Well, he did not apply any clear, the old paint just came out that nice.
I you look at the yellow warranty tag in the trunk, you will notice the date is 1977. These Sears tires are still on the car, so as you can imagine, they will need to be replaced. I have left them on to illustrate just how little this Wayfarer has been driven. The mileage at that time was about 92,000...
I will attach more pictures, and if any particular photos are requested, I will certainly take and insert. I will insert engine and underside photos on Monday.......
There's nothing to hide here. Ask any questions....On Nov-24-20 at 10:02:31 PST, seller added the following information:
I'm adding a shot of the engine, and will add more later today. As you will notice, there are no heater hoses. This Wayfarer was a radio AND HEATER delete. Not uncommon back in the day ...
On Nov-25-20 at 13:00:05 PST, seller added the following information:Just added a few photos.... Notice the pans outside the frame are very nice. Pan between rails is dirty but no rust other than some surface. Frame rails are surface rusty, as they were never painted. All paint under hood (except engine) is original.... As mentioned above, the only rust through the body is the bottom of the rear panel below the deck lid. The pans are very solid, the spare tube is perfect. All in all, this puppy is very rust free, and sold as a rock.....
I'll add more photos later..
It was 25 degrees in my storage building, and this critter started right up and never missed a lick !!
