Car description |

Factory built race car! Only 55 Dodge Dart 2 door sedan Max Wedges made, only 214 total Dodges in 1962. Only 16 are accounted for today. This car has been decoded by Galena Govier and is listed in the registry. It also includes a copy of the IBM card from Chrysler. Techically the first "muscle car".
This rare and desirable Max Wedge is completely authentic including driveline. The crossram intake with dual 4 barrels pour the fuel in and factory exhaust dumps let it out. It also has a scarce manual shift 3-speed, 4-speeds were not yet offered. This car was part of a significant collection. We acquired it from a Mopar expert that assured me this car is "right". Only 199 miles since restored.
EXTERIOR: Very unique, 1 year only body style. We have restoration pictures of the car stripped to bare metal and the metal is bone dry. The body is pristine, no signs of rust or damage. It is straight and fits really well. Repainted the original Polar white and I am sure it is far better than it was when it left the factory. It has a smooth, glossy finish. Every piece of chrome and trim was professionally restored. The windshield is new, the rubber gaskets and weather strips have been replaced. The rims were painted, they have nice poverty caps. The tires are reproduction Goodrich Silvertowns.
INTERIOR: Has hard to find "turtle shell" around the floor shifter. Cigarette lighter delete, radio delete. Has vintage Stewart Warner oil pressure bauge below and a tachometer on the dash. The upholstery and door panels were restored to original. The metal was repainted. The dash bezel has been recorded. Excellent interior although the rear shelf is aged, can't find a new one. Some of the welting is frayed.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original motor verified by stamps, castings and dates. The Ramchargers left the factory with solid lifters, aluminum pistons, Magnafluxed connecting rods, double-breaker ignition, twin 650-cfm Carter four-barrels, and beautiful three-inch headers that swept up along the side of the engine to clear the front suspension. The 11.0:1-compression Max Wedge had 410 bhp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Original numbered distributor. The engine bay is completely clean, straight metal painted gloss white. The unit numbers are stamped on the car and on the original fender tag. The hoses have reproduction clamps. No squirters, windshield washer delete.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Completely rust free. Under the mat is gloss white. Original quarter panels, no splices. It has a matching painted rim and reproduction tire for a spare. The jack assembly was restored. Bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are glossy, has new weather strip and an original jacking instructions sticker.
UNDERSIDE: It is meticulously restored back to day one condition. The metal under this car is dry a chalkboard. All of the seams, factory spotwelds and frame rails are spotlessly clean metal. Correctly repainted in grey primer. These came with H.D. police suspension and H.D. brakes. All of the components were restored. The front end is all rebuilt and detailed. The rear suspension was rebuilt and detailed too. Looking up at the motor it's spotless. Has original Borg Warner 3-speed. In back it has the factory 3.91 posi rear. It has a correct factory exhaust system with dumps, yes factory dumps! Fuel system was restored- tank is clean, lines replaced. Brake system was restored- lines replaced, e-brake assembly looks complete.
This is a rare, significant muscle car. It's the real deal restored to factory specs. You could be one of a few lucky enough to own one. Great investment potential!
