Vintage Antique Barn Find Military Vehicle..
1979 Dodge RARE Military D10 225 Cu in (3.7L) Slant 6 Short Bed Pickup Work Truck was Originally Used on the Flight line of the Offitt Omaha Air Force Base - This Truck did duties on the tarmac and carried gear, personal and dignitaries out to B52's for missions.
This is the only truck of this type they used back then and is now the only one in the world from that time that remains.
Truck is used and in All Original Condition with original military installed metal tags, decals and nomenclature plaques still in place from original use. Note that this is the Only remaining truck of it's kind in the world that was in U.S. Military Service at these air bases from those years.
This truck was then used by state park and fair operations personal who worked in grounds keeping and maintenance duties in the 80's into the 90's. Truck was maintained with good shocks and tires and has little bends and dents as can be see in the pictures. It was then parked in a storage yard and kept out of use until 2013 when the current owner put it back into use. The body is virtually rust free except for the left rear fender over the tire. The paint and metal of the doors and fenders are in fine condition. There was some minor patching once done to the floor on the drivers side. Truck has Mil Speck Undercoating and Rust proofing from production. Frame is intact and not rusted out.
ALL of the gauges, the heater and wipers and lights, switches, cables, etc. function perfectly.
The Truck was taken to the IOLA Military Show and displayed where several of the attendees remembered it from when they were in the military out on the base. Truck also made trips to Birmingham, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Kansas. IT gets 20-25 MPH with cargo in the rear bed. The Slant 6 engine runs smooth even with the many hours of usage over the years.
Additional repairs include:
Truck has been parked by a gravel road and dust has collected under the hood.
None of the engine compartment is rusted. It was completely treated with USA Fluid Penetrating Preservative which restores the lead based paint and eliminates the rust and corrosion.
The bed is intact. Truck probably needs the ignition module, because it runs better than ever after the tune up; and then after it runs for about 5 minutes the engine suddenly stalls and does not start again until after it sits and cools off till the next day. These are the original ignition coil and component parts from 41 years ago which have become faulty over time should be renewed.
An Experienced Military Vehicle Collector with a Restoration Shop will find this Truck to be ideal for a resto project.
