Car description |
---|
I have owned this car for the past 14 years. It runs great and shifts smoothly and is as reliable as a car much newer. Awesome gas mileage for a car from this era: 30 mpg hwy. 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine with a 3 speed automatic. I live between Chicago and Milwaukee, I think I've only seen six other Shadow convertibles since I've owned it. It gets a lot of thumbs-up when you're out cruising. I'd call the condition "a good 20ft car". It looks nearly new at that distance. There are a few blemishes on the paint, see the pictures. Rust is minimal for a 30 year old car: a little surface rust on the bottom edges of the doors, a couple of places on the fenders, and some on the frames rails. But none of it is by any means detrimental to the integrity of the body structure. You can still see the clean, original red paint on the underside of the body. Only the drivers seat shows notable wear in the seating area. I just replaced the drivers window motor (the original lasted for the past 13 years for me!) The passenger window motor was replaced last summer.
Since I've owned it, these items were repaired/replaced:
Tires
Shocks/Struts
Gas Tank
Window Motors
Head Gasket
Normal Tune Up Stuff
Front Speakers
Known Issues:
The A/C needs freon.
The tach works sporadically.
The power door lock motors work but the inner door locks get hung up on the door panels.
The drivers door handle return spring is weak, so you sometimes have to push the inner handle in flush with the trim.
The top does not leak but a bit of the edging is loose or missing.
The drivers seatback does not flip forward, but both front seats do recline properly.
For the past dozen years, it's only been driven in the summer - averaging about 1500 miles per year.
Why are we selling? Because we will be moving out out west and have replaced it with our next toy: a Jeep!
