Up for sale is a 1993 Dodge Daytona IROC R/T. These were only produced in 92 and 93. Roughly 200 were made each year only. A totally unique drivetrain was used in the IROC R/T also known as the turbo 3. The block is a 2.2l turbo engine but now with a DOHC intercooled turbo head and a 5speed manual transmission. The dual overhead cam engine was designed with the collaboration of the Lotus Car Company and Chrysler to keep up with that era’s mustang 5.0L, GMC Typhoons/Syclones, Camaro IROC Z / Trans Am etc. If I’m not mistaken something significant happened that allowed dodge to take away the IROC branding from GM those couple of years; kind of a slap in the face after the success of the IROC Z Camaro for several prior years. These cars are wicked fast even when totally stock. Of the late 80’s and early 90’s cars these Daytona’s are very undervalued / undiscovered as a potentially collectible vehicle in my opinion. With the rarity, uniqueness, badging and the power plant, it could be the earliest fuel injected R/T Chrysler/dodge product produced. I can’t think of any Daytona badged car that hasn’t become incredibly valuable as time went forward thus making the Dodge Daytona IROC R/T a great value and investment.
This particular IROC R/T has 72,000 actual miles and a clean Arizona title along with a perfect accident free Carfax/Autocheck. Car runs and drives perfect, cold a/c, no strange noises, smoke or lights on. Tires are a newer matching set of four Michelin’s.
As far as the interior condition, the shift knob is not the original and I do not have the original. Headliner looks like a small repair was done in the corner so it is not perfect but not even worth mentioning. Interior is in a 9 out of 10 condition
Exterior is perfect original red factory paint, I did have the hood painted due to a bunch of rock chips, but if I didn’t tell you, you would think it was original paint as well. Body and paint is in a 10 out of 10 condition
As far as the drivetrain, the only thing done to the drivetrain for peace of mind, the factory paper head gasket was replaced with an updated metal gasket, highly recommended by most if not all turbo 3 enthusiasts. Lastly worth mentioning, the turbo 3 engine is a non-interference engine, meaning the vehicle will coast to a stop should the timing belt break as opposed to ruining the engine know as an interference engine, again this is a non-interference engine.
In my opinion this car is and or could be as close to show quality as you would like to make it or keep it.
