We have for your consideration a 1988 Dodge Dakota SE Regular Cab Pickup, 8' (Long) Bed, 3.9 L. V-6, A/T, PS, PDB, AC & CC (both not working but there), which comes with new tires and a bed liner. I was told it was a Texas truck, and I believe it. There is minimal rust anywhere, as the last two pictures (of the underside of the cab) will show. Lots of small nicks & dents (32 years worth), and some minor surface rust, but nothing major. Anybody who has had one of these early Dakotas knows the cab above the windshield sometimes gets pinholes, and I think this one may have some, or a leaking windshield, as the passenger floor is now wet after a heavy rain. It was a SE model with the custom front bumper, chrome w/o moldings and side molding package. Some of the side moldings were missing, so I removed the rest to prepare the body for a repaint, which never got done. I have had the bed liner out, and the bed floor is also remarkably rust free. I had to replace the rear bumper & tailgate a while back. The bumper is a new aftermarket & the tailgate was the best one I could find at the time. The engine has 160,743 original miles on it, and runs beautifully, and the transmission works and shifts smooth, almost like new. The air pump on the engine froze up a while back so I removed it with the intention of replacing it later. Unfortunately someone stole the old one out of my back yard so I no longer have the brackets and mounts for it. Most states (Maryland included) do not require this on an antique/historic/street rod vehicle. The truck also came with a tilt steering wheel, which destroyed itself, again a while back. I managed to find a non-tilt column, but dropped it while installing it, which bent the turn signal lever & broke the intermittent wiper and dimmer switch, which I haven't been able to repair as yet. I am trying to list anything I know is wrong with the vehicle, I don't want the buyer (if one) to be disappointed or pissed off. The truck is extremely solid BUT does need a lot of little repairs. For someone who wants it right, it could be a nice solid street rod project. A 318 V-8 or new Hemi transplant would really liven this truck up. We have started the bidding pretty low, and the reserve is not unreasonable, BUT IF THE TRUCK DOES NOT SELL BY NEXT SUNDAY NIGHT, we MAY part the truck out; MAJOR PARTS ONLY! Complete front clip including front bumper, radiator support & radiator; complete cab assembly with doors, interior, etc.; complete long bed assembly with tailgate, rear bumper & bedliner, complete 2WD frame assembly with front & rear suspensions; (maybe) complete engine; (maybe) complete transmission. IF you may be, or are, interested in these parts (keep in mind they are practically rust free) please email me through Ebay. IF we do part it out, we will only list the parts we have someone interested in! If Ebay allows it, my number is 410-952-5919 if you have any questions or want to inspect the truck.
