Car description |
---|
Available now is my beautifully restored, attention-grabbing, trophy-winning Dodge Coronet that I hate to see go. My available time and interest has just gone elsewhere, and it’s time for someone else to give this car the attention it deserves. I restored the car mostly myself, finishing in 2009, welding in new floor pans and focusing on the underside, making the car structurally solid and clean, before applying a very strong and great looking coating called Rust Bullet to the entire underside. I put together a nice 440 big block engine, but in late 2018 built a completely new 440, stroked to 493 cubic inches (8.1L) with top quality forged internals, 11:1 compression, aluminum heads, and had a solid roller billet camshaft custom ground for this engine. It breathes through two Holley 600 cfm carburetors on a tunnel ram intake, and sends the exhaust out through massive Doug’s fenderwell headers into a custom 3†X-pipe exhaust. The new engine is still barely broken in.
The transmission is a manually-shifted 727 Torqueflite (with a reverse manual valvebody – technically an automatic, but does not have a true automatic function) with race-quality internal parts. I upgraded the 8-3/4†rear end with 3.91:1 gears, and if you know Chrysler 8-3/4†rear axles, I put together a “489†gear case with a new “742†Suregrip limited slip unit – the best of both worlds for excellent strength and durability. I converted the front brakes to disc brakes, and the car rolls on classic American Racing Torq Thrust wheels up front, and Wheel Vintiques black steel 15x8s with Mickey Thompson Drag ET tires on the rear for a period-correct Super Stock appearance. Manual steering, manual brakes, manual windows - this car is not for wimps and not for the faint of heart! But it does get tons of looks and thumbs ups.
There is much more to list and lots of extra parts that'll go with it...you’ll need to see it and hear the car run to really appreciate it. I have almost all receipts for everything. There really aren't many others like this one, and when you pull into car shows, cruise-in events, or just about anywhere else, people instantly flock to it. It sounds loud and mean, and it looks incredible. And it's fast enough for what it is (but hasn't been on a dyno or drag strip with this engine). If there's one thing remaining to be done on the car, it's the interior - the factory stock 1965 seat covers are still in good condition, but replacing them, along with the seat foams and head liner would really complete it. As it sits, it's acceptable. The car has never been in the rain since restored and is always garage-kept. Clean Oklahoma title, located in Edmond, OK (near OKC). This incredible car is also listed for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the eBay listing early at any time.
