Up for bids is my 1992 Dodge W350 Cummins Dually flatbed. It has P pump, compound turbos and nv4500 5 speed transmission. I have done a lot of modifications to this truck, only with reliability, towing power and economy in mind! Since I have done all these modifications/repairs/new parts listed below I have put just under 24000 miles on it. the speedo says 3900 because the first gauge set I put in were the cheap speedway ones and the gauges started reading wrong so I put Autometer in. This truck has been my daily driver for the last 6 years and the only reason I would ever consider selling it is I just need an extended cab now, I would not hesitate to hop in this truck and drive it across the country right now! When I got the truck it was a single rear wheel automatic with 312xxx miles on it. The motor ran perfectly but we found a machine shop rebuilt 12 valve from a 1995 that was never fired up. it needed some suspension work to be road worthy, so I rebuilt the entire front end with skyjacker 2" soft ride springs, has new brakes, front wheel bearings/seals. Steering was converted to cross steer and steering stabilizer was added. has newer steering box and borgeson steering shaft. Has new selectro locking hubs up front. Drives perfectly down highway with no bumps and pulls of any kind, towing or empty! The rear end and leaf springs are from a Donor 2002 V10 truck, it is a Dana 80 HD, it was a 4.10 gear but I rebuilt the entire rear end with 3.54 to match the front axle and rebuilt the brakes while it was all apart. The factory 2nd gen springs bolted to the stock 1st gen frame and I had drive shaft that fit perfectly with the wheel base moved back 3 inches. It uses stock shocks front and back. The engine was rebuilt by a shop in Bakersfield CA, and has the machine shop tag on the back of the head. it was from a 95 dodge (12 Valve) and complete with the p pump. I installed Ducky Fuel Injection 50Hp injectors in it. Install ARP Head studs and tuned the P pump to make most reliable power without smoking out the world every time you touch the throttle, If you drive it normally without having to race it everywhere is will see 25+MPG! I made the compound turbo set up using the stock (2nd gen holset WH1C turbo and added a 60mm wicked wheel inducer housing/wheel and 12cm exhaust housing as the primary and used a Borg Warner BHT3B with 24cm exhaust housing for the secondary, It spools incredibly fast up to 60 psi and has more pulling power than you could ever need! It is always fun out pulling newer trucks up grades while pulling 4 horses! EGTs Always stay under 1200 degrees up the steepest hills and engine temp is never a concern. Exhaust looks like it would be very loud but with the compounds its actually very pleasant inside truck, turbo just screams when you are getting on it. It has a 5" down pipe and exhaust. Has new radiator, cooling fan, fan clutch and mishimoto lifetime thermostat. There are NO oil leaks! that deserves its own paragraph! :-) running synthetic delo with synthentic fram filter just changed it about 500 miles ago
The transmission is a 2002 NV4500 from a 24 valve (98 and up use the better shift tower) the trans is completely rebuilt with all the upgraded parts you can get, shifts like a dream. clutch is a south bend single disc rated up to 800hp also has all new hydraulics for clutch, clutch is nice to push. has stock np205 transfer case.
I rewired the truck because like most trucks this era someone attempted to put a tape deck in and caused a fire hazard! Moved the fuse block to the engine bay and completely decomputerized the truck, the alternator, speedo, and someother things were computer controlled for some reason, more things that can go wrong. All lights work, as well as wipers, power windows, door locks do not work with button. The P pump motors use a terrible fuel shut off solenoid that went out on me one to many times so I put a military style fuel shut off cable on instead, cables never go bad! cable is located right next to the E brake release, and yes e brake also works, will hold you on hill out of gear. I made the flatbed when converting it to a dually, nice and simple and gets the job done! I have hauled 11 complete engines in one load and still rode perfectly! Also has gooseneck hitch that I use a few times a month, my standard car hauler is a 20' gooseneck. Has nice push bar bumper made from 1/8th plate using the stock bumper brackets, if desired a stock bumper would bolt back on. Has new grill with dodge script and new black inserts and new turn signals. has H4 headlight conversion. and the rest of the lights are LEDs
The body is in nice shape a few small dings here and there but no rust, it is an original California truck. The paint is by no means show quality and does show some signs of wear, chips, scratches but it shines up nice for a driver. A few spots have some white showing through especially on the hood, gets compliments everywhere you go though! Interior Is in good shape, dash has no cracks, the floor mat could be replaced as it is ripped along trans tunnel, seat has the usual tear on driverside but I put seat cover on so it wont get worse. even equipped with hat holder and gun rack! The rims were purchased when converting to dually they are 16" the least showy rims i could find! I replaced the tires no more than 10,000 miles ago they are Hancook Dynapro AT M they are 285/75/16 load range E (10 ply) I believe they are equivalent to 33-10.5s. I wanted to get the best tire you could get since I haul and tow a lot.
I know I will regret selling this truck as I always wanted a single cab flatbed dually and actually was able to get one but like I said I am in need of an extended cab so it has to go. This truck not only will tow everything you need it is very fun to drive and hauls ass.
