Very clean, very complete 1968 Dodge Charger. Please take time to read the entire description.
The front grille is the highlight of the car. It is in absolutely perfect, mint, original condition. There is not a crack or bend or imperfection in the entire front grille assembly. This is frankly unheard of for these Charger grilles. They always have at least something wrong with them. Which can be very difficult and expensive to fix. I have been very adamant about storing the grille, and all other parts, safely indoors.
Factory 'G' code 383 big block and 727 automatic transmission car. I do not have the engine or transmission, however the car does still have the factory 8 3/4 rear end.
This car is at least 90% complete. I have owned it for the last 7 years, and I have been diligent in locating pieces that the car has needed for restoration. I have compiled an entire list of what the car has, and also what the car has needed over the years.
On to the body. Overall, the car is very clean and rust free. Especially compared to many others that you might find out there. It has been a western car for all of it's life. The car has excellent frame rails, floors, and body panels. The main structure of the car. The car will need patching or replacement of the trunk pan, the quarter skins, and some rear window patching. The car will need some attention in the rear valance, and the rear wheel wells as well. The car will also need a new radiator core support. Something was dropped on it years ago, and the top part of the radiator support has caved in. The structure around the core support is intact, and it does not effect the structural integrity of the car. The glass is in good shape (minus the windshield), as is all of the trim for the car. Which I have labeled and organized for the entire car.
This will be an excellent project for someone that has the time and resources, which unfortunately I do not. I have restored a few classic Mopars before and know how much of a headache it can be with missing parts or getting sloppy in the organization process when it comes time for reassembly. I have worked to alleviate that for the future owner. All of the trim is clearly labeled and organized for an easy and enjoyable restoration process.
There are a few minor differences from the pictures: I no longer have the passenger side tail light, the sill plates, the A-pillar trim, the 3-speed wiper motor, the extra set of hood hinges, the lower door panels, or the hood. They were in very rough shape and I got rid of them to replace them with brand new pieces, as that was my plan. It made more sense economically because you can buy them brand new for cheaper than it would've cost to restore those individual parts. I believe that any new owner would agree with that decision. The rest of the parts, however, are in great shape.
I have taken full inventory of this car from top to bottom and compiled a list of what the car has, and what it still needs.
Parts that come with the car:- Mint Condition 1968 grille assembly (Very valuable in itself. To this day, I have never seen an original grille in this condition. Pictures do not do it justice)
- Full set of labeled trim for the car. Top to bottom, front to back. If there is trim missing, it is disclosed in the section below.
- Great condition original low-back bucket seats and rear seat
- Front and rear bumpers in good condition (Could use polish or re-chrome to be perfect) with new front bumper brackets- Front valance with lights
- Driver side tail light in excellent condition- 2 sets of upper door panels, original blue lower door panels, and door trim- Original blue glove box assembly- Original blue A-pillar trim
- Console assembly (console plastic broken, but all trim and compartment door are excellent)- Driver mirror assembly with remote adjustment- Floor shift steering column assembly and lower trim piece. With bonus aftermarket Grant steering wheel adapter kit
- Full dash trim and A/C vents- 2 sets of Kick panels- New, straight set of front bumper brackets and cross brace- 2-speed wiper motor- 1 Horn- Roof dome light- Chrome door handles- Window crank handles- Wiper arms- Rear view mirror- Headliner bows
- 2 sets of front and rear arm rests and trim
- Floor shifter handle assembly and linkage
- Flip top gas cap in great condition- Original to the car, 1968 gauge assembly- 3 round 1968 marker lights, one rear missing
What the car still needs to be complete:- Rear window glass interior trim
- Dash and engine wiring harness (You will want to go with new reproduction wiring harnesses anyway to avoid problems)
- A/C + Heater control panel- Hood and hood turn signals- One rear passenger round marker light (Car comes with 2 fronts and one rear)- Wiper linkage arms- 1 horn, there are 2 total for this car, I have one- Sill plates- Passenger side tail light
As you can see, the list of what the car still needs to be complete is very small.
I do not have the title. I never received it when I purchased the car years ago. According to my home state of Utah, it is a simple matter of having the VIN inspected by local police, and filing for a new title. It should not be a big deal at all to receive a new clean and clear title. I will write up a proper Bill of Sale for the new owner.
