This 1968 Dodge D200 Camper Special is a sweptline rear-wheel drive pickup which was purchased by me in 2011 and restored over the following year.
A repaint in Turf Green was applied along with new rubber seals, a four-barrel carburetor, long-tube headers feeding a dual exhaust system, an aftermarket power steering setup, upgraded ignition components, interior refreshment, brake and suspension work, and more.
Power is provided by a 318ci V8 mated to a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission. This D200 has been driven just 200 miles in the past five years and is offered in Connecticut with period literature, receipts, and a clean Colorado title in my name.
A repaint in single-stage PPG Turf Green (factory color) was applied over the previous white finish following rust remediation in the door corners and cab floor with new sheet metal and lead filler. Bright trim has been re-chromed or polished, and all hardware was cadmium plated or replaced. There are some scratches and chips from use over the last 10 years, and some touch-up paint
White 16″ steel wheels with chrome hubcaps replace the original split rims. Factory bumpers (front and rear) were re-chromed and stainless steel drip rails have been fitted. A slide-out camper was reportedly in place for nearly 50 years, so the bed is in beautiful condition.
The interior has a rare split bench seat and an extra rare heavy-duty gauge package. We added insulation and a new rubber floor mat during the restoration.
