A trophy winner in NY and Florida, this beautiful car is very clean and the paint looks even better in person. This 1962 Convertible Dodge Dart 440 is red with white canvas top. I have had it since 2007.The interior is red, with new carpeting, and a modern stereo with subwoofer. This car completed the Long Haul for the 2011 Hot Rod Power Tour with the original 318 c.i. poly engine, covering over 3900 miles in 12 days.
In January 2012, she was driven to RAM Racing Engines in Lynchburg, Virginia where the stock 318 cu. in. Poly engine, transmission, rear end, fuel system, and front suspension were removed.The engine compartment was refurbished and painted. A RMS Alterkation coil-over front suspension was installed with rack & pinion power steering and 11 in. disc brakes. Custom frame Connectors, along with the reworked original 727 Torqueflite transmission, and rebuilt original rearend were added to handle the 400 HP created by the new 5.7 Hemi engine. Custom chrome accents and accessories adorn the engine along with the March pulley system. TTI headers and exhaust complete the package. Air conditioning and custom audio were added to enhance comfort. American Car Craft custom installed the stainless Hemi valve covers with red backlights and the stainless engine compartment cover.
This is a rare model of the Dart and may be the only surviving Dart convertible with this "Sport Sweep" (as it was called) trim package that was only used during the end of the production year. It was available only on the Dart 440 convertible model.
