For sale is my beloved 1989 Dodge Dakota Convertible. It is loaded, pwr windows, locks, A/C, cuise, tilt, auto, 2wd V6, with only 77K miles, thats right just over 77k ORIGINAL miles. Carfax is clean and I have numerous records from throughout the years. Simply put, if you are into these trucks, about all I can say is, ....THIS IS THE ONE!! I suspect it may be one of the lowest mile, cleanest original example of these trucks. I have loved these trucks for 30 years now and when I was a kid I couldn't afford one so in the past 15 years I have had the chance to own a few of these trucks but have constantly hunted for the perfect one, and I found it. I had seen the truck 12 years ago at a car show in N.C. and inquired about buying it, but at the time, the gentleman had no interest. Well the years pass, and after him never even allowing the truck to get wet and only putting a few thousand miles on it over a decade, he hit 80 years old and decided to let me buy it. I have the original window sticker, all the records dating and documenting the miles, the original bill of sale, original manual, not to mention the factory original convertible top "boot" cover that has never even been installed. The truck is garaged, covered and fully detailed and prepped to go to a cruise or car show today, or get in and drive it to Alaska, an unbelievable find, my loss is your gain! I never planned to sell, but life sometimes changes course, and I have decided to let the truck go to someone else.
Ok, the background and ownership story, I am the third owner. The original owner and the 2nd owner were back yard neighbors in the suburbs outside of Charlotte N.C. The truck has NEVER even left the Carolinas so it has absolutely no rust or grime anywhere, ever! The original owner had the truck painted once in approx. 2001, it was originally black and the clear coat had some issues, but no body damage at all and absolutely no rust anywhere. Also at that time he also installed a few upgrades for turning it into more of a show truck, it had suspension upgrades including a professionally installed lowering kit, a few chrome accessories added under the hood when he did the major 60 service items, and had the bumpers and grill insert blacked out to flow with the whole blacked out look. The truck also had a new top installed and dual exhaust with straight pipes and chrome exhaust tips along with a few chrome goodies under the hood.Truth be told, he painted a few things extra..the fender flares and window molding (now showing some age), and I would rate the paint job a solid 8.5, totally able to win trophies but not concourse quality...after all its a Dakota. The grey stripes were left off when it was repainted, and it looks awesome still. You can eat off the under carriage, it is truly that clean. The only note I can even make is that if it sits a really long time, there might be a most minimal amount of seapage at the rear main. Now I am just be honest, do not be alarmed, it is nothing much to worry about...(just the reality of a old dodge V6)
Last year I spent $4000 at least on just a good old fashioned round of "whatever it needed" all the light bulbs, plugs, wires, misc. hoses, brake pads, calipers, rotors, filters, and a brand new set of 17" American Racing Torque Thrust M wheels with new radial cooper tiger paw tires. The truck did not need anything, but it had not had a full on tune up etc for over a decade so I gave it the royal treatment. It was also buffed polished and highly detailed twice in the last year as I use the truck for cruise ins and showing only. I randomly had a class 3 new receiver hitch that fit the truck so I installed it just for the heck of it, but the truck has never hauled or towed anything. I also had the windows professionally tinted and had the rear window of the convertible top custom made out of tinted material to match the side windows. This truck looks just as cool with the top up as it does down.
I am going to stop there, if you are serious and you know what the truck is, please get a hold of me, I will be glad to tell you anything and everything I can, but even though it is an awesome clean truck, it is still a used truck and it has some normal and unavoidable signs of age, but it is super nice, it is the truck of my dreams and possibly your, but life has blessed me with a late surprise in the family, and I am letting the truck go to spend the money on a ride for the whole family.
I drove the truck 5 hours on a trip this year, and that was before all the major service I mentioned above, so I can assure you you could fly in and drive it home anywhere, but pick up and or shipping is responsibility of the buyer. Inspections and test drives are encouraged, please reach out to me if serious. Truck is for sale locally also.... but the truck does need to go, so check it out!! Cash or electronic payment cleared prior to pick up and all arrangement must be made between buyer and seller, a $500 deposit with be accepted though Paypal, but remainder of payment terms must be agreed upon. please text me or look me up at 8433334250
