Car description |

1972 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 tribute. This car was purchased unrestored at Carlisle Chrysler Nationals car corral in July 2015. It was a dry, rust free California car all its life. It was born with a slant 6 and was the common Y-2 yellow with a white painted roof. The car ran and drove ok but I wanted to build a 340 Swinger and this was the most solid Dart I had seen in many years. The car was rust free and no body panels needed to be replaced. The body panels, floors, and frame sections are original and were rust free.
Exterior1969 Dodge Q5 Bright Turquoise Iridescent base/coat/clear was applied in August 2017. The hood and scoops were painted the correct black out design as well. The paint is a 10 out of 10. Very deep shine. The black hood is like a mirror. The body is straight as an arrow. No waves. New bumpers front and rear, door handles, locks, correct tail stripe decal, windshield, outside mirrors, chrome moldings professionally buffed, all new exterior lenses. The grill is a 1970 and restored. The car was finished and first driven in March 2018. I have driven it to numerous shows where it always draws a crowd as it just glows in the sunlight! It sounds incredible. The car drives great, has lots of power, has been reliable, and is fun to drive. Now that it is completed I have found another project to get started on, that is my only reason for selling. I am a hobbyist.
Drivetrain
340 engine (340's are getting very hard to find) build date 6-16-1971, pretty much stock except for Dougs D453 ceramic coated headers, Edelbrock 650 electric choke, Evans engine wiring harness, Schumacher slant 6 to V8 engine mounts, coil, plugs, wires, water pump, fuel pump, 65 amp alternator, high torque starter, clutch fan, aluminum 3 row radiator, mopar cam, distributor, piston rings and engine gaskets replaced. The 340 did not need rebored. The heads are stock but with new valve seats etc. Pypes SMA10 complete stainless steel exhaust system with Pypes Street Pro mufflers that sound incredible. Like a low burbling Chris Craft boat. They sound much better than Flowmasters. Correct A-Body exhaust tips. 727 transmission, new pan with drain plug and rear seals. No leaks from the engine or transmission. Kickdown has been replaced with the Bouchillon Kickdown cable kit. Shifter is a TCI 616443 Streetighter. It has Straight gate mode and Ratchet shift mode. The column shifter was removed from the steering column and replaced with the correct Mopar floor shift collar. Future plans were to find bucket seats, floor shift, and console, hence the TCI for now.
The 8 3/4 rear end has a 3:55 sure grip. New Mancini leaf springs, bushings, and shocks.Suspension/brakes/fuelNew Steer and Gear modern/sport feel Steering gear box, completely new front and rear suspension parts, alignment done in 2018. Manual brakes, front disc, rear drums, new brake lines. All new component brake parts. It stops very well. Tires; Front; Cooper 215/65/15 on 15x6 Rallye rims with correct 1970 argent center caps. Rear; Cooper 235/60/15 on 15x7 Rallyes. New fuel tank, pad, cap, and sending unit. My mileage is averaging 13.5 miles per gallon.
Interior
Stock reupholstered seats (very comfortable) with hard to find bench seat hinge covers, seat belts, new carpet, new head liner, sail panels, and visors. New door armrests, window fuzzies, interior cranks, handles. New heater core. Stock AM/FM radio from Wards Radio Repair that works like new, new front speaker, dashboard wood grain painted satin black, Tuff wheel. Auto meter gauges. Tach, idle is at 800 rpm, Temperature gauge never gets over 190, perfect Oil Pressure and Volts reading.
There are many more parts that were replaced that I haven't listed, but I do have a folder of receipts for the car. I have the original Bias ply spare tire on its rim as well. Any questions, ask and I will try and answer them but please read the description first. I do have more pics. Understand this is a 46 year old car. It doesn't drive like a modern car but you can work on it with regular tools, have fun, and will get a thumb up everywhere you go. A $500 nonrefundable deposit is needed with 48 hours. Buyer pays any fees associated with pay pal. Actual Bank transfer is preferred. Full payment/pickup must occur within 7 days unless other arrangements are made prior to end of auction. I will assist with shipping but the buyer pays any and all shipping costs. I will also assist with international shipping.

On Sep-02-18 at 08:17:17 PDT, seller added the following information:
On Saturday Sept 1 the car was driven in a cruise in. Fuel gauge was at 1/2 tank. On way home I filled the tank completely. The fuel gauge was on full. This morning I went for a quick drive and the gauge is now on E. The tank is full. It's never done that before. Sending unit and ground strap are new. Most likely the voltage limiter behind dash failed. Or the actual gauge is bad. I have an extra gauge and another voltage limiter I will include.
