My other auction shows my nearly perfect survivor '89 Shelby. Here is a lower priced example for all of those who can't afford the other one. The Shelby CSX’s were converted by the Shelby Factory in Whittier, California and were the first lowered, intercooled, turbo charged, fat wheeled road burners, long before Subaru ever thought about the WRX. Most Shelbys look like this one but most Shelbys don’t retain their original turbo, have excellent ready to go mechanicals, and need very little to bring them back to their original luster. This vehicle runs just as good or better than my time capsule CSX and is the perfect fixer upper because unlike most CSX’s, it still has it’s front spoiler and all of the original Shelby pieces including the incredibly rare VNT turbo and the original Shelby wheels.

What’s wrong with the car: Obviously it needs paint but very little body work, the only obvious dent is on the right front fender at the antenna mount. It is missing the Shelby badge on the hatch and the carpeting inside of the trunk has a small hole in it that is nearly invisible. The passenger’s front seat is going to be the biggest challenge as there is a hole in the Shelby branded fabric. Also, the A/C compressor needs a new front seal. The rest of the interior is bright, unstained, and really looks like a lot less miles than the vehicle has. Glass is all good, tires are good, and one more time, the mechanicals that usually don’t survive the thrashing of previous owners are in excellent shape. The body looks worse than it is, all of the missing paint on the front spoiler is simply that. There are no missing pieces or cracked plastic. More than anything, it looks like it was bumped up against parking blocks and the paint popped off.

The undercarriage on this Shelby is a normal undercarriage of a car with this many miles. The exceptional undercarriage on the other car makes this one look bad, however it is completely serviceable without rust and like the rest of the car needs only a little bit of attention.

As with all NGDCARS offerings and unlike most collector vehicles, this car is completely drivable. Many collector cars are just shiny, pretty things, this one is beautiful and is fully capable of being driven and enjoyed.
