For sale is a 1967 Dodge D-100 short box fleet side truck, we call her Tank. I bought this rat rod styled truck last year and I have completed some extensive work since the purchase of her. A few of you may have seen her listed before or at car shows and now she is much better!!
This truck sits on a Dodge Dakota chassis that has lowering Springs upfront and a flipped rear end outback, lowered roughly 6 - 7”. Braking on her is stock Dakota front disc and rear drum brakes. I do not know the year model etc. for the Dodge Dakota frame.
The wheels and tires are new with very minimal mileage, maybe 400-500 miles. The front wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust 20x8 with 245/40/20 with Delinte Thunder D7 tires, the rear wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust 20x10 with 275/40/20 with Delinte Desert Storm D8 tires. Wheels and tires are in great condition, may have a tiny mark, hairline scratch but NO RUBS or anything like that.
She is powered by a mid 90’s Chevrolet LT1 (Out of a corvette or Camaro we think) with a mild competition cam (I have the comp cams paperwork, no receipt). I installed a new water pump, cam seal, crank seal, timing gear and chain, new OPTI-Spark distributor, plug wires and timing cover gasket, new oil pan (oil changed) with gasket (had oil leak, doesn't leak now) I have the recent receipts for these items. Truck has two electric cooling fans on the radiator, they are wired to come on as soon as the ignition comes on. Truck came with a five speed but I changed it out to a rebuilt 700r4 along with a new transmission mount and driveshaft. This truck has been tuned and dyno’d with the documentation to back her, 283 hp with 289-foot pounds of torque. The coolant system was flushed completely. Prior to the tune I installed a new fuel pump and exhaust system. The truck has power steering, a fuse box panel with wiring and components to power the LT1. The shifter is an ultra-rare D-100 dash mounted shifter, very retro and works great. The interior (not seat cover, that was by others) was completed by Eli at Easy Trim in Oklahoma City. There I had the sound deadening mat installed on the roof, floors and inside the doors. After that a new headliner, carpet and floor mats were custom made (not a kit) and installed. The instrumentation is Dakota Digital (for a 65-66 mustang, but fits in the cluster area and I believe is why they chose that)), and I have paperwork for the Intellitronix universal five-gauge panel, this has instructions only. All gauges work except for the Speedometer, I believe there is a sensor that needs to be added/hooked up where that can be wired. I am not very familiar with this set up or system. I have been using my cell phone with speedometer app to track my speed. There is a cigarette lighter that does work as well. The front windshield was replaced new, all weather stripping and gaskets were replaced with Precision brand rubber. Door locks and ignition are keyed the same however the driver door lock needs to be taken out and reassembled, it is loose. Windows and vent window work properly opening and rolling up and down correctly. The poly fuel-cell was relocated, re-wired and dropped down, a new steel tube sub bed floor was fabricated, powder coated and installed. After that I had Mar– K Bed wood installed (The wood is Ash and has been stained and sealed) with polished stainless-steel bed strips and a stainless-steel fuel inlet flip open set up in the bed. The bed area originally was hollowed out below and 1x6 cedar wood was installed flush similar to a bed cover, it’s much better now. When I purchased the truck, there were no emblems or rear bumper. I had emblems sought out by JD from Edmond Oklahoma and he cleaned, polished and installed them throughout the truck as well as an old-school cut down steel bumper on the rear. JD did a great deal of searching for the rare parts, work, fabricating and coordinating the additions I added. New taillight covers were installed. I do have new rockers, they are not OEM but had every intention of replacing those as well as the two outer rear bed corners. I was going to install those and have refinished to look worn out but not rusted. Truck has original rearview mirror inside the cab, driver sun visor and two door mirrors on either side. Truck Truly runs and drives very nice, sounds great. Everywhere I go and stop people come and take photographs ask a million questions and go crazy over this truck. She is also in the June 2018 issue of StreetTrucks Magazine.
This truck is not a trailer queen by any stretch of the imagination. She is very reliable, drives and sounds great. The truck does have rust and both rock her areas as well as the outer left and right corner of the bed. Those bad areas are notorious to rust due to the original bumper location where the steel would rest against the bed metal. Truck has various other dents, scratches, surface rust etc. The floors on the truck are solid all the other areas for the most part is very solid but there are dents, tiny holes were someone has drilled where it looks like they were doing some dent pulling but this is a true rat rod style exterior with true patina not fake. Horn and wipers do not operate. Turn signals, low and high beam lights work. Also, she is a very rare small rear window. Frame is solid, motor and transmission are solid, power steering feels great truck rides great.
I am a car guy…collector and I have my eyes on some different vehicles now so it’s time to let her go. I am in no hurry and I do not have to sell. Actual mileage is Unknown and I do drive her around from time to time.
I am describing this truck to the best of my ability; all descriptions are my opinion and I highly recommend inspecting the truck yourself or sending a third-party company or person out to inspect for you. All sales are final. Please see all the photographs in the listing. I can also email additional photographs and video. I only have pictures of what I have added, I do not have the original build pics or receipts, only what I have done. Shown by appointment only. I can schedule an on-site viewing. Anyone bidding must not have any negative feedback and must have purchased other vehicles in the past with positive results. This is cash or wired funds only. No cashier’s checks from out of the country, I do not need help selling her, and I’m not open to any trades. $1,000.00 deposit via PayPal at auction end.. I reserve the right to cancel or stop this auction at any time, she is listed on other sites and locally. I will be more than happy to coordinate with you your own shipping contractor upon payment received in full. Must be picked up within 7 days of payment clearing. I do hold a blue Texas title with no liens and not a Salvage title. There is a visible VIN as shown in the photographs located at the driver side door jamb. The current license plates will not come with the vehicle however I can sell them at an additional cost. In Texas you can register vintage plates as an antique classic. It will be your responsibility to verify the current license plates can be registered in your area of Texas.
I am more than willing to answer all questions. You can email me at james@championrenovations.com or I can respond via cell phone or text at (281)4three three-1nine11. The truck is located in the Lakeway Texas area, a suburb just west of Austin. I have a ton of pics I can send.
Thank you for looking, Good Luck in bidding, you will love her!!
