Car description |
---|
1 of 1,983 '68 Coronet R/Ts with a 440 and a 4 speed. It has its original engine and 18 spline HEMI heavy duty transmission both with the VIN stamped on them. I believe the Dana 60 (3:54 gears) is its original as well.
It has its original fender tag but no build sheet.
The SO (Shipping Order) numbers stamped in the rear under the trunk seal match the car but the one stamped on the radiator core support does not match.
This beauty was originally Black with White tail stripe and no vinyl top and had a White bucket seat non-console interior with the standard instrument cluster ( 150mph speedometer).
This car was ordered without power steering or power brakes, this thing was all business wrapped in a tuxedo!
I bought this car in 2010 still mounted on a rotisserie which would be available to go with the car for cheap. It's a homemade job but it worked well.I have done nothing with this car since I bought it except remove it from the rotisserie and reinstall the rear axle so it could be moved around with the body dolly up front(included in the sale). The previous owner was responsible for all of the restoration on the body and a couple of receipts for that labor are included. That being said it still needs some metal bodywork finished. My plan was to redo some of what was done as it wasn't up to my standards especially for a rare and deserving car such as this.
I think it was a running and driving car when the previous owner bought it and it is mostly complete. (See pictures)
The only things that stand out as missing are a carburetor, air cleaner, radio and of course things like belts and hoses, exhaust after the manifolds, etc..That is not to say that there aren't other small parts missing. I just don't know as I bought the car disassembled. Many more pictures of the parts that are included can be seen upon request.
I managed to find the correct radiator for it that will likely need to be recored and the previous owner included a set of HP exhaust manifolds. Also the R/T emblem on the rear finish panel I bought is N.O.S.. The trunk lid is nice needing only minor bodywork.
The engine was freshly rebuilt and being broken in in another vehicle when I bought it. Notes and receipts for engine work are included from D & S, Booth & Arrons and a balance sheet from Muscle Motors.
