Car description

1968 Dodge Coronet Wagon. This is when full size wagons had the cool factor. This one is no exception, IMO. This one has a straight essentially rust free body, new interior, and the best part, a Mopar 440 under the hood. Oh, and the 18 and 20s with the just right stance give it a menacing look.
Yes when you review the pictures, it looks like one of the "rat rods" that was maybe pulled out of a field and made to run. This might LOOK like that, however this one was actually built to replicate the look. It is a California car, so there is very limited body issues. It may be difficult to tell, but the body panels are straight, rust free, and appears to have limited to no body filler. Paint was changed to the blue color at some point in its life. It was done well as all the door jams and engine compartment was painted blue. Body has been sanded to remove the shine and give it a flat appearance. In addition, there are areas where the sanding was intentionally sanded to bare metal and allowed to "rust" to complete the look. Some chipping on the hood to reveal primer is also present. Only body issues are two small bubbles on each rear fender about the size of two dimes and one area along the passenger rear drip rail. All are shown in the pictures. It would take very little prep to repaint it. Body is actually in excellent shape.
The 440 engine is in excellent shape and runs and drives like you would expect. Car shows 45k and it is believed to be actual miles. The engine is not original, but a period correct 440 pulled from another car. It was disassembled and gone thorough prior to installation. It was a low mile engine of just under 43k, heads removed and internals inspected and then reassembled. It was stated by the engine builder that this was the "cleanest internals for used engine he as ever seen". Transmission was also overhauled at the same time and it shifts properly. Period correct exhaust, aluminum intake and carb were put on the engine. New power steering box was also installed when motor was installed. Cold it takes a few cranks to get it fired up. Once warmed up just a bit, it will fire up on first crank. It has just enough big-block burble to remind you that there is a big V8 under the hood.
On the interior, the front and rear seats have been recovered in factory original style seat covers, plus new carpeting was installed. Door panels are in great shape and appear to be original. Radio has been replaced with oil and water gauges. Rear cargo area is original, but in good shape. Could use a new headliner to make it perfect. Seat folds flat, windows all go up and down, etc. Even the electric rear window works as it should.
Under the car, the floors are in rust free shape, as are the rocker panels, frame, etc. Only minor surface rust is present. Rear trunk is also in excellent shape. 18" Wheels up front with 20x9" wheels in the back fill up the wheel wells and do not rub. Tires are like new (though the rears may or may not have had a cool burnout or two...I plead the 5th). The US Mags look the part, and the staggered fit give it a nice rake. Front suspension and brakes have been gone over and work well.
It is pictured in the surfer style with the Yakima rack and two surfboards. Those come with the car if you like it, if not no problem. Its a head turner at all the car shows and reliable cruiser.
