1964 Dodge Polara I bought this car no-engine from Collector Motors in Houston, TX many years ago. Then bought the mid 70's 440 engine from them, and had them install before shipping. The car was freshly painted and partially disassembled, and it looked great. Then I started having work done to complete the car, and it sat out here and there, and eventually the clear coat got beat by the mile high Denver sun. Because of the difference in engine balancing (64-76) (internal v. external balance), I had weights welded to the torque converter to balance out. Also added electronic ignition. Had a lot of issues getting it to run right for a while. Put on a new fuel tank and new dual exhaust. Lots of new parts! I had door panels and back seat reupholstered, covering just the bad areas, and preserving the tri-stars and swirly embossing from the factory materials. Door panels still need installed. Needs headliner and carpet. Chrome inside window trim is rusted, needs sand blast and rechrome or paint. I think the car may have had race history, as the nose was set high and it had traction bars when I got it. Some rust repair in floors but they are good now. A little bubbling over the right rear wheel, but doesn't seem to worsen. I think between race history and coming from the Southeast (before texas) that it didn't have much rust, so repairs were probably minimal. Now its sat outside for too long, and the top surfaces, mostly the roof, have faded out from sun. Maybe can be brought back, maybe repaint the top in blue, and I always wanted to paint the hood in flat black. There are some chips and dings in it now, which makes is great for driving for fun, and not having to worry about the paint! Mostly complete. Missing hood lip trim (thanks to mechanic again) and one roof side panel tristar. The rest of the trim is all there, and its all been straightened and polished. If you have ever sourced out the little bits and pieces for this car, you'd find that it's a one year body style, and much of the trim is "polara-onlyâ€, "2dr-onlyâ€, and or "2dr ht only. (read: rare) Tires are old 14's on rally rims. They have tread, but bad sidewalls. Just for rolling around. You will need new tires for street use! I gotdistracted on other projects, and the car sat for about 4 years. I thought the tranny had gone bad from sitting. I finally got it in the shop at Mopar Masters in Denver. They work exclusively on Mopar, and they know their stuff. First good news, the tranny wasn't blown. It had developed a leak where the speedo cable enters, and had leaked out a lot of fluid.Leak fixed shifts good! Next they puton a new choke and a bunch of linkage to get it all working. There were some loose wires in the ignition, which have been fixed. There was a lot of bad wiring behind the dash. The wiring has been repaired, gages fixed or replaced, and all new sending units. $1700 later, its an awesome running 440! To make it driveable, strut rod bushings and control arm bushings all need to be replaced. The tires should also be upgraded. To go all the way, finish up the interior, repaint the roof, however far you want to go. The cruise it, race it, drive it to the zoo... I have a ton of pics on my website roysvintagecars, for glory days before the paint fade, as well as pics from this week. I took a video with the car running (no smoke), but neither weebly nor ebay like the format. If you are serious, somehow I'll get it to you. Maybe see it on my facebook page. Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to cancel bids or remove from sale. Please pay according to terms, and remove car WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF PAYMENT DATE. I have a bunch of other cool parts. Was thinking about a Roadrunner 383 and lever-shift 727 for the car... Not Included: I have a fresh Non-push-button 727 tranny and torque converter, rebuilt by Don's Automotive in Denver, CO, at a cost of $1000. ADD $1000 for the rebuilt tranny. You will need to install a column or floor shifter to make it work. Not Included: I also have a 383 Road Runner engine that's fresh built with all cool, vintage speed components. Inquire if interested in the engine. It would be on the side, you haul, you install, As-Is, where-Is. (I also have a bunch of rebuilt 55, 57, 331, 354 vintage Hemi engines)
