1970 Dodge Charger R/T – Numbers Matching Plumb Crazy with a 440 6 Pack
This car has had a complete rotisserie frame off, every nut and bolt restoration that was restored back to original factory condition. The restoration was completed in October of last year and has been driven less than 100 miles since the restoration.
This car has 47,741 all original miles. I am the 2nd owner and have had the car for 20 years.
It is one of only 169 of the Plumb Crazy cars that had the black Performance Hood Paint Treatment and one of only 1199 that were FC7 Plum Crazy. Most 70 Chargers came with a vinyl roof so to have no vinyl roof is more rare. There are only 29 1970 Chargers registered with the Dodge Charge Registry with FC7 paint and no vinyl roof.
It is an absolutely stunning car – the pictures do not do it justice!
If you have any questions – please do not hesitate to call me. David 417-337-1003

VIN # XS29V0G172100
E87 = 440 cid Six Pack 3x2bbl
D32 = 727 Automatic Transmission (only 337 built)
XS29 = Charger R/T
V0G = 440 cid Six Pack 3x2bbl - Second position indicates the model year. On a 1970 Charger this value will always be 0 (zero) which indicates it is a 1970.
The final number on the bottom line is the build sequence number at the St. Louis plant. The plant started the 1970 model year with sequence number 100001 and worked up from there. One must remember that the St. Louis plant made other models as well, not just Chargers so the sequence number is assigned to each car as it moved in order through the assembly plant. If your sequence number is 102410 that does not mean your Charger was the 2,410th Charger built, but rather your car was the 2,410th car (all models) built at the plant.
FC7 = Plum Crazy (only 1199 built)
The next code identifies the interior trim the car came with.
C6XA = Charcoal & Black Vinyl Buckets
The next code identifies the upper door frame paint color. This is the paint they applied to the inner door panel so it matches or accents the interior trim colors.
TX9 = Black (only 403 built)
The next code identifies the production date of your Charger. This is the date the car was actually built at the assembly plant. The production year for the 1970 Charger began in August 1,1969 and ran to July 10, 1970. The production date code is 3 digits and includes a factory identifier for the month (1 digit) followed by the day of that month (2 digits).
C=December 1969 01-31
The next charactersidentify the vehicle order number. This number is simply the order number assigned to the dealership on the original order sheet. Sometimes it is preceded by a letter, such as follows:
starting from the left, the first code identifies the roof color or if the car had a vinyl roof.
FC7 = Plum Crazy Paint (only 1199 built)
The next code is the beginning of the listing of all the major option codes which will be listed in alphabetical order working left to right on this line and then moving up to the next line, again left to right until you see the code END indicating the end of the option codes. Not all option codes are found on the fender tag, the full listing is found on the broadcast sheet. The following lists the option codes that are known (with proof) to be listed on fender tags if applicable:
