Car description

Up for auction is a 1968 Dodge Coronet 440. The car has a clean title. I have replaced or rebuilt the majority of the car other than the interior and some of that is done as well.

Engine is a date correct 440 (1967) with ported 516 heads. The cam is a Lunati voodoo with specs similar to Mopar purple cam. The lifters are Lunati as well valve springs are Crower. Pistons are Keith Black hyper eutectic and are .30 over 10.5:1, rods are Mopar with ARP bolts, Clevite main and rod bearings. Distributor is a Mallory with a Pertronix ignitor 3. Intake is an Offenhauser single 4bbl. The carburetor is a Thermoquad. Starter, alternator, ac pump and P/S pump are all oem and have been rebuilt. The engine has been rotated periodically and was turned over with the starter recently but has not been fired since being completely rebuilt. Machine work was done by Capitol Machine (they do Tim Wilkerson’s funny car engine work)

Transmission is a Mopar 727 (1976) and has been fully rebuilt with a new torque convertor with a 1500 RPM (or so) stall.

Driveshaft is a factory piece with new “U” joints. The rear end has been rebuilt with new bearings and seals. The rear is an 8 ¾ unit with a 2.73 gears and an open center.

Exhaust is long tube hooker headers and an “H” pipe connected to thrush “Mad Hot” Mufflers the piping is 2.5 inch Flowmaster steel with factory type exhaust tips.

Fuel system is a factory refurbished tank and carter fuel pump with stainless steel line.

Cooling system is a rebuilt water pump and a new aluminum radiator with two electric fans.

Brakes are 10 inch drums on all four corners with manual master cylinder and stainless steel lines. All new or rebuilt parts including brake cables and hoses.

Rear suspension is factory leaf springs that have been rebuilt with new shims and poly bushings. New factory replacement shocks.

Front suspension is correct torsion bars for big block and completely rebuilt upper and lower arms spindles, center link and poly bushings throughout. The shocks are factory replacements.

Wheels are period Keystone Klassics and have a set of useable BFG tires (they will need to be replaced)

Body has had panels replaced including one rear quarter, tail panel, trunk floor, and a few small patches including a passenger front floor pan and drivers side lower quarter. The car was sand blasted down to bare metal and primed with etch primer, then covered with epoxy primer. The paint was done several years ago, and needs work.

Dash has been gone through and all wiring checked, AM radio included with new dash speaker. The instrument cluster was disassembled and cleaned.

A/C system is not finished but the compressor and the heater box have been rebuilt with new seals and gaskets. (the heater box is quite a job.) the majority of the rest of the a/c system goes with the car other than the condenser.

The car comes with a large number of new and used parts to nearly complete the vehicle. (of note, there are no front seats, the rear spring cores are included but need a good bit of work to be used. There is no carpet or door panels. The other main components missing are the windshield and most body gaskets.) I can provide additional pictures and information on parts that are included or are needed. I wanted to finish this car but after ten years, I realize it is time for someone else to finish it. Please feel free to ask questions and I will try to answer them as best I can. I have many receipts and documentation for parts that have been installed. Basically, if it is on the car, it is either new or rebuilt. There is a pile of parts waiting to go on the car or be restored. Obviously, The car will need to be trailered. I can help load but you will need to set up your own shipping. Believe it or not, I need to say this “THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE”. Thanks for looking, Good Luck! I Have set a reserve on the car that is about what the engine is worth.
