COOLEST 4x4 CAMPER VAN IN WORLD - **BITCOIN PAYMENT PREFERRED**
*** WILL CANCEL AUCTION FOR "BUY IT NOW" PRICE: 4 BTC ***
This 1985 Dodge 4x4 B250 "Getaway" Camper Van is amazing and beautiful because you see her as amazing and beautiful (which she is, so if you don't, who cares?) You cannot buy this van to BECOME an adventurer. You will buy this van because you ARE an adventurer. This van is an expression of my personality so if you buy this, we will likely become friends as there will be an unspoken word about what it takes to be an owner of a late model camping 4x4 off road vehicle. When you inquire about this vehicle, it will be similar to asking about a family member. We will talk about where we have been with her. What adventures we have gone on. How my family has grown up with her. (yes its a her). The questions you will ask will be general because you know that these kinds of vehicles are part personality, part project, never ending, evolving love/frustration relationship. You will love this van because where and how it will transport you. You will see opportunities to make it your own. You will have your own views on what it will look like and where you will be taking its first photo. You will get frustrated with her because she is loud, bouncy, old, and constantly need something. But you will love her not despite these frustrations, but BECAUSE of these quirky characteristics. You will want to name her... as we did. She is currently called "el espÃritu de baja". She is like having a strong daughter who has an independent free spirit. Whom ever becomes her partner, will have no limits.
FIRST QUESTION: We are selling her because my family's needs have changed. We cannot afford multiple toys and my kids have been in sailing camps for the last 4 years and have fallen in love with sailing. (which was my first love). So we plan on buying some sort of sail boat to start our next series of adventures.
PROBLEMS:1. She likes to drink too much.2. She eat too much fat (oil) and need about a quart every 1000 miles.3. She can get a little hay-wired sometimes and seems to get her wires crossed. We try to figure it out, but she wont tell us her problem. She really needs to be re-wired someday but we sort of love her the way she is.4. She has a few wrinkles (rust spots) from being in the harsh coastal climates. She could use some attention to her edges and maybe a new coat. She has never been hit or fallen down, so no damage beyond that what would be expected of an adventurer born in the mid-80s.5. She doesn't want to take any California pollution tests, so she needs to be registered in another state. (Its super easy and we can talk about it if you end up needing help in that area.)6. She is sort of famous and will have people asking questions about her and wanting to check her out. Proudly show her off knowing that she is a proud warrior and worthy of all praise and curiosity and tell them you are honored to be part of her story.
HISTORYThis van was custom built originally in 1985 by a Canadian company called GET AWAY. They would take new vans, convert them to 4x4, cut off their tops, put on fiberglass shells, install kitchens and interiors and resell them to the camper market. We bought THIS van from a older retired postman from Salt Lake UT who used it to go the mountains and work as ski patrol until he was too old to keep up with her. (We actually bought her on EBAY!!!) We took her in, stripped her down to bare metal, and started from scratch. When you buy her, you will get all of the before/after photos, progress photos, and transformation photos including the kitchen, roll cage and anything we have on photo documentation throughout her time with us.
SIDENOTE: She is also made it into a coffee-table book that was successful project on Kickstarter. You can find her if you dig a little on Pinterest as well. Ill share with the winning bidder more information about this if desired.
GENERAL FAQS: 1.She has a brand new rebuilt transmission by the BEST GUY in 200 miles. He is a true transmission specialist and will get calls from MIDAS and AAMCO for complicated jobs that are above their expertise.2. She has a brand new AC unit with rebuilt dash controls and converted to the legal R-134A.3. Rebuilt radiator core.4. New window motor on passenger side.5. Custom shock mounts and extended travel6. Custom leaf springs by the only custom spring company in Los Angeles (he is in Long Beach, CA)7. Custom chromoly tube roll cage (not a rack) that is welded directly to the frame rails. Built by QuickSand Offroad, Santa Ana, CA (out of business now) This frame flips open and serves as a 9ft x 9ft platform that will hold the van upside down if so desired.8. Custom spray-in polyurethane foam insulation throughout the cab. (if this van goes into the water, it will float). The guy who did the work normally does yachts and has an interesting story too!9. Rebuilt kitchen with euro-style sink/stovetop combo, gas/120v/12v original refrigerator, separate heater with thermostat (never connected, but works)10. Custom bamboo floor from Costco.11. Rebuilt steering column.12. Custom front bumper with built in storage, winch and sand jack.13. All new Propane distribution system with quick releases (is a beauty to behold)14. Original upper bunk (full size mattress size)15. All 'new' front seats with full swivel, and fold out bench seat in back, from a 90s RAM VAN. (new in the sense that we put them in, not original)20. We have put FAR too many memories, time, design, visions, photos and history into her that she is considered priceless to us. In the hard terms of dollars, we have put north of $25,000 into her and she will take any additional effort you are willing to give her. She will run great as she is, but I know that the person that wins her heart, will have greater things in mind for her.
INCLUDED STUFF I CAN REMEMBER (THERE ARE MORE):
new carburetornew R-134A aftermarket AC systemCustom flip-up tableinstalled tool kitcustom canopiesstickers and tattoosbumps and bruisesnew gel battery (Yellowtop Optima)various storage areas
FINAL TWIST: I AM A CRYPTOCURRENCY MINER, so to make it more interesting, we are only going to accept BITCOIN (BTC), ETH, ZCASH or BITCOIN CASH (BCH) as payment. SO BID ONLY IF YOU ARE WILLING AND ABLE~!! (just kidding, we will take USD as well.)
