1958 Dodge D100 factory Service Utility body fire truck! This truck was originally used as a fire department truck somewhere here in Kentucky. The last private owner used it as a daily driver here in the little town of Edmonton, KY. where it could be seen driving around on the streets quite regularly. That same last owner drove it over a remnant of a tree trump about 3 or 4 years ago and bent the tie rod, and then parked it.
I acquired it in trade for some work I did for that owner. The motor sounds great when you crank it (The sound these motors used to make many years ago, which I hadn't heard in a long LONG time!) but it will not fire. It's getting spark at the points, it's just not making it to the spark plugs. I've had it sitting here for several months, but never seem to get around to messing with it, so I'm selling it as it is. Just correct the simple spark problem (I did install new points and condenser) and she will run- Like I said, it was a driver up until the day the former owner hit the tree stump and parked it. Tie rod just needs straightening or replacement. (I may straighten it if I get a chance- I have a pipe bender...)- But those are the only two things she needs to be a driver.
I believe the paint is original; as is everything else on the truck. I've detailed the rust around the edges (there are 24 pics!) and other than that, she is very solid. This is not some beat worn-out old sloppy truck - she is very tight, and sits up as tall as she should and is in amazing shape for an old survivor. The doors open and close nice, etc. As far as I can remember, everything works as it should. Glass is good. Just a nice small-town truck which led an easy life. Odometer shows 72K miles, and I have no way of knowing if it's original or not, but based on the feel and condition of the truck, I'd say it is.
ALL LIGHTS WORK ----- TIRES HOLD AIR
I believe only about 250 of these were made with this body.
Clear title in hand. Straight-six motor; manual tranny. manual steering and brakes. This would make a great driver; shop truck, or super-easy superior restore.
Located in Edmonton KY (South central KY.) Just off the Cumberland/Louie B Nunn Pkwy.
Please call Steve at (270)590-2604 if you have any questions or would like to arrange for a pre-purchase in-person inspection (Before you bid!).
$250 non-refundable deposit due immediately, with the balance due within 7 days via cash in person or bank wire transfer. Will not take PayPal for the entire amount (A friend is listing this for me, and it is his PP account).
You will be pleasantly surprised at how nice this truck is in person! I haven't seen an all original unmolested vehicle of this vintage in this nice a shape in a long, long time!
