Car description |

1969 Dodge Dart GTS 383 Convertible What I have here is one of the rarest A-Bodies ever built! It could be considered the Holy Grail of A-Bodies! This was the biggest engine available and the most horsepower you could EVER get in a GTS Convertible. You want to know how rare it is? Well they only built 39 H code Big Block HP383 automatic GTS convertibles in 1969 and to make it even more scarce they only built one. that's right. ONE. with the W23 code Kelsey-Hayes recall wheels! This car is a true one of one! And to top it off it is loaded with nice options and it is a great color combination as well! And even better. it is documented with its original broadcast sheet and the fender tag. You say it couldn't get any better? Well. it has its numbers matching original 383 HP engine it also! Wow. what a car! It is a 1969 Dodge Dart GTS convertible. B5 Blue with a Blue interior. a White convertible top and a White tail stripe. It has the big block HP 383 4bbl engine. console automatic with the rare original N85 code console tachometer. an 3. 23 suregrip 8 3/4 rear end. bucket seats with headrests. woodgrain steering wheel. dual door mirrors. power steering. power disc brakes. power convertible top. light package. nbsp;chrome tips. AM radio and the rare-rare-RARE Kelsey-Hayes wheels. The Kelsey-Hayes wheels were only offered during the first month of production for the 1969 year and were recalled shortly thereafter because they were found to loosen up on the cars. Very few of these wheels ever survived and the small bolt pattern A-Body style were never reproduced like the big bolt B-Body versions were. So to find an original set of 14" small bolt pattern A-Body Kelsey-Hayes wheels is nearly impossible! Well. as hard as they were to find and as expensive as they were to buy. nbsp;I was able to round up a set a few years ago for it! And they will go with the car! I purchased this rare car from the second owner 8 years ago. He had owned the car for 28 years and as I recall he bought it from the original owner who lived just blocks away from where he lived. So the history of the car is pretty well known as it did not have many owners. When I purchased it 8 years ago it was wearing an older repaint and I would consider it to be a very nice driver. The second owner had installed a few performance modifications over the years on the car but fortunately the original parts were still around. It had a nice set of headers on it. an Edelbrock intake and carburetor and some non stock chrome valve covers. When I picked up the car I was able to get the original intake. the original chrome valve covers. an original numbers carb and the correct original exhaust manifolds! The car runs so good I never had the notion to put the original parts back on. All of those parts are still sitting on my shelf today and will go with the car as well. The car itself is in great shape showing just a little age in the paint job. There are a few imperfections on it but overall it is in pretty nice shape. The top is in very nice condition and the interior is very nice also. Looking in the engine compartment I would say it could use some detailing as well as the trunk area also but they are clean and solid. The car is ROCK SOLID underneath and is unrestored with NO rust on the frame rails. torsion bar cross member. floors. etc. The car appears to have had some lower rear quarter panel metal work at one time down low in back but it was done properly a long time ago and shows well. The rest of the car looks to be original sheet metal and is nice. It starts. runs and idles perfectly! The car is very nice just like it is now and can be enjoyed for years to come without doing much to it. But being it is so rare and one of the most desirable and valuable A-Bodies ever built. I suppose it could deserve to get a number one show winning restoration on it sometime in its life. but that will be up to the next owner. This car is a very rare find and I hate to give it up but my family has nick named it "The Wedding Car" as my oldest daughter just got married and I have committed that some of the funds from this sale will go to paying off that expense. The rest of the funds will go back into another car. so not all is lost. ;) Please. no low ballers. tire kickers or time wasters. I would like to talk to serious buyers only please. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time and for any reason including an acceptable offer to buy it. I may consider your vehicle as partial payment towards the car. Delivery is available.
