Offering for sale my favorite toy. Just looking for something new. I have known and been working on these cars since they were brand new and I have owned several of them. Except for the one I bought brand new in 1984, this one has been by far the cleanest and best performing of them all. Purchased about a year ago from a fellow turbo Dodge enthusiast, this car underwent a five year cosmetic and mechanical restoration. It is completely sorted, it is totally rust free, it has been my daily driver for about a year, and it drives perfectly. Everything works, it is entirely stock and unmolested, it's beautiful (was painted a few years ago), the turbo boosts great, it stops great, it handles great, and it is reliable. Almost every time I take the car out I get honks and thumbs up from other motorist, it is a frequent attendee at 'Caffeine and Octane' (C&O)has been featured several times on the Atlanta C&O site as a featured car. Everybody wants to get their picture with it and talk about the one they had or their friend had. It is in a way, like being a celebrity, but it's all about the car.
These cars are still very very serviceable, they are easy to work on, most parts are still widely available. They are inexpensive to insure and operate, 25+MPG no matter how you drive it and they are great road cars as well as daily drivers. Cold AC, heat, factory AM/FM/Cassette, full leather interior, power drivers seat, T-tops, 5 speed, original 4 cylinder 2.2 liter engine and transmission, cruise control, full digital dash, trip computer/navigator option, rear window wiper, new tires (like 2,000 miles on them), engine was gone through about 25,000 miles ago, the chassis has approximately 194,000 miles on it. Please note that the odometer digital display is somewhat intermittent. It is properly recording mileage while driven however it will often stop displaying the mileage, then like magic start showing it again. Each time it stops/starts the mileage has increased as it should have. Apparently this has been a problem with the car for several years and I have never done anything about it except buy a complete analog cluster to replace the digital when I just had the time. I am old school and actually prefer the analog/steam gauges but the car came with digital and I have left it that way on purpose.
$4,000 alone in paint a few years ago (its very very nice), all glass is good, power windows, power mirrors, Halogen headlights, intermittent wipers, running at factory boost levels but they can easily handle 2x the factory setting. Car has the factory exhaust on it so it's quiet but still has a nice sound when you boost and wind her up. Car shifts great in all 5 gears hot or cold.
As I said, the car is a joy to drive. Cruising with the T-tops out is an experience that is experienced by few, its quite freeing to feel the wind, the Sun and get a taste of the open road or twists and turns of a mountain drive in this manner. He or she will just love this feature. Plenty of room for groceries, golf bag, sports equipment, garage sale finds or a picnic basket in the hatch too.
