Hello, Up For Bids is a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport 340.
1973 was the last year of the 340 and the first year of the Dart Sport model. This is a true "H" code car but the original 340 4 barrel engine is gone. The car now has a great running 360 4 barrel. It is stock internally but has new gaskets throughout, new spark plugs & wires, new water pump, power steering pump and fuel pump. The 4 barrel Carter Thermoquad has been properly rebuilt. It has dual exhaust and Blue Streak glass pack mufflers. There is a Mopar mini starter, factory electronic ignition and a 26 inch radiator that has been boiled out and pressure checked. The fan clutch and 7 blade fan are HD parts in great condition.
The transmission is a HD 727 3 speed automatic with new ATF and pan gasket. I installed new U-joints in the driveshaft and had it balanced. The rear axle is an 8.25 unit with 3.55 gears. There is no limited slip differential. The brakes are the stock non power front 11"disc, rear 10"drum design. The torsion bars and front sway bar are stock 340 Dart part, as are the leaf springs. A prior owner installed subframe connectors. The wheels are factory 15 X 7. The tires have approximately 50 % tread. I have not had the front wheels of the car professionally aligned but the car tracks straight. If one were to buy new tires, I would suggest a shop that can align classic cars using the following specs: 1/2 degree NEG camber, 2 degrees POS Caster and 1/8" toe IN.The interior is a combination of new pieces and clean original components. Eastwood brand sound deadening mat has been applied to the floors to give the car a tight, quiet feel and sound. Sound & heat matting is also behind the kick panels.Carpet and headliner are new. The gauges are original and do work. Lights and turn signals do too. The horn does not work. The AM/FM cassette was working but recently stopped even though the display lights up. In fairness, this is a type of radio that few people have anymore. I didn't want to cut the dash to install a CD player. I figure the next owner should decide which way to go there. The car did originally have A/C but did not when I got the car. The steering wheel is original and in excellent condition.
The dash pad is nice though it does have small cracks at each end. I can supply a glue-on dash cap for free if the reserve is met and if the buyer requests it. I also can provide a spare grille and a set of aftermarket wheel trim rings. The car has no rust. The car does not appear to have ever been in an accident. The frame rails are solid. The floors are solid. The trunk floor is solid. When you think of "Solid, rust free California car", this car is exactly that. It is an original TX9 black car but was repainted. I buffed it out and installed the matte black stripes. The hood scoop was a popular feature of the 73 Dart Sport models and this one is in excellent condition. The hood has 2 factory holes under the scoop to allow airflow directly into the air cleaner if you decide to pursue that route. The trunk is opened by an electric switch in the ash tray. The rear window and side quarter windows were tinted when I got the car.
The car starts easily even after weeks of sitting. It idles great and runs strong. The car feels tight and well put together, not loose and full of rattles like many older cars. The doors close solid. I have CA license plates if needed and the title is clear.
The car is sold in "AS- IS" condition with no warranty. This means that the car is sold in exactly the condition that you see in the pictures and as I have described it. If you wish, you can arrange an inspection of the car at your expense. I encourage this if it gives you piece of mind. I have described the car to the best of my knowledge and ability with no intention to misrepresent or deceive. Bidding is for buyers, not Game Players !! PLEASE only bid if you intend to BUY.
Buyer is required to pay a $500 deposit within 24 hours of close of auction. The remaining balance can be paid by way of cashiers check from a major bank. Buyer is required to arrange shipping. PLEASE research shipping prices before bidding. Thank you for looking.
