i bought this truck in november of last year and it was a 1 elderly owned 1981 dodge crew cab short bed D250 with 360 motor and 4 speed transmission. the last picture is a copy of the ebay front page when i bought it. the truck had a camper on it all its life and served that life as a family car and grocery getter. the truck has almost all of its factory paint still on it. we have fully converted the truck to a diesel truck with 1 ton suspension and mega cab type fenders. there are several ways of doing these conversions and done correctly as this truck has been it is more than a lot of work. done correctly you have to replace the complete wiring harness, replace steering column, gauge cluster, core support which is how this truck was done. it now has a 92 cummins motor and 5 speed trans with just over 100k on them. with the exception of the steering column and gauges the interior of the truck is its factory interior. when we put the 1 ton suspension in it we added new shocks. it got new 3 inch exhaust from front to rear yesterday. the tires still have plenty tread on them. the a/c system is blowing cold. the truck is very attractive but it is not a 100 point show truck. it does has little scuffs, scraped and dings but for 1981 factory paint it sure buffed out nice! they are only original paint one time. after that you have to wonder how much bondo is in them. the truck starts right up just as you expect a 12 valve to do. it idles and runs excellent. the truck came from a northern state so the underside of the truck does have surface rust. the only rust issues that are worth mentioning is that one of the body mounts has rust damage, the passenger wheel well under the factory chrome had rust which didnt matter to me because i was putting the dually fenders on it and the driver rocker panel down at the bottom had a small spot. the truck is located at 1602 s. market in hearne texas 77859 and you are more than welcome to come see what you are buying. when i say this truck was just finished that is literally. it was driven out of the shop to the muffler shop to get the new exhaust and then right around out back when i took the pictures. today is the first day i took the truck out and really actually put some drive time on it. so in my update i will start off with a question i had which was about the wire poking out of the dash wrapped around the screw driver. that custom option was because the fuel cut off solenoid was bad and that was just for the trip to the muffler shop. we do have a new solenoid that will be installed prior to auction end. what i learned from my seat time today is that this truck obviously has a 4.10 rear or more because it is absolutely not a high speed vehicle. the motor came out of a low mileage local farm truck that was never tinkered with. if the winning bidder wants the fuel turned up on it we can certainly do that. the transmission shifter is still very tight not like most that the shifter just flops around. clutch is excellent. it goes through all the gears fine but if you get in a hurry you will scratch 2nd. the battery, fuel, oil pressure and temp gauge all work but like the other 99% of these trucks the speedometer and odometer dont work. i used this gauge cluster because i thought it work but i guess im out of working clusters.
