1940 Dodge Job-Rated pickup Model VC"STEADY HAND"
A true survivor, this truck has its original, rebuilt motor with a recently rebuilt original Ball & Ball carburetor. she starts up every time and runs like an absolute champ.Very enjoyable original rebuilt powerplant with a fun to drive torque curve.Truck hails from Maine via Massachusetts and was a working truck, purchased from a fella whose father used her as a painters truck decades ago, with his company name being Steady Hand, which is how she earned her nickname and can be seen subtly in paint on doors. Second year of Dodge's "Job-Rated" truck line.
Motor completely rebuilt in the last decade at a specialty shop in Maine. Original paint on cab with the bed seeming to have been painted at some time in the late 70's. Truck still has its original bed wood with some remnants of her career charmingly noticeable. Loaded from the factory with all available options which was only one as i understand, map light, which works great.
Here is a noteworthy list of all items recently maintained:
-rebuilt original motor-rebuilt factory correct Ball & Ball carburetor-new rear bumper with correctreassignedCA plates-fresh Porter muffler with new seals throughout-rebuilt brakes including fresh lines-new Goodyear truck bias-ply's from company in MO from original molds
During my time with this truck, I've done everything that I feel she deserves to be a really well respected nod to a true original, great running specimen.
