2-speed axle for better torque and better top speed. Plus it's a lot of fun!
Big Flathead six has been rebuilt .040 over. Runs strong!
1944 title and wheel date stamps authenticate war production.
History- in WWII civilian vehicle production was halted to focus on war goods. But by 1944 there was a shortage of trucks state-side needed to produce raw materials. A small production run of civilian Dodge trucks was authorized in April of 1944 to be used in the war effort and rationed by the war production board. This WFA-31 got the optional 2-speed axle, heavy-duty frame reinforcement plates, And a Gar-wood 2-yard hydraulic dump bed. The truck was likely used in mining here in Montana and had 2 old tin helmets behind the seat. After the war it was auctioned to a local ranch. The engine was rebuilt and the truck was used for jobs around the ranch. In the rancher's later years it stored in good condition for many years. It fired right up with some basic maintenance. I used it around the ranch for years but am in a wheelchair now and need to pass it on to a good home where it can be driven and enjoyed.
This truck is in very good condition, but has mostly been stored over the last few decades. I changed the oil, plugs, coolant, hoses, thermostat, brake master cylinder, battery, seat cover, etc. Brakes still need some bleeding. Carb could use a seal kit. Strong running truck just needs a little tuning to be a road warrior. hood ornament included, just not shown in pictures.
Truck ships from Stevensville, Montana, 59870. It is about 19 ft long and about 6000 lbs.
