A chop-top that's been fully customized inside and out is sure to turn heads, but when it's done on something as distinctively different as a 1951 Dodge Wayfarer, then you know it leaves a lasting impression. It's amazing you can have all of this for such an affordable price.Built on a shorter chassis than the Coronet, the Wayfarer is the perfect place to start with some hot rod attitude. Of course, to get the proportions right, that means chopping the top for that sinister low profile (lowering the suspension is a must, too). Then shave off the unnecessary elements like the door handles, hood trim, trunk handle, and side trim. So now that dark black paint can consume those rounded curves without interruption. But since it is a true American custom build, there's always room for a bit of brightwork, and that's why it's used to highlight areas like jowly grin of the grille (now with cool blue driving lights), the larger modern wheels, and the wide bumpers that look like they could push away traffic. Add in final touches like frenched-in taillights and suicide doors, and this is everything you want to make a distinct and intimidating impression.Pop the remote door openers, and you realize there was plenty of budget left to create a cool custom interior. It starts with everybody getting their own bucket seat. The black, red, and white pattern not only looks cool, but also it ties together the color of the carpeting, door panels, headliner, and dash. It's this full uniform appearance that lets everyone know there was thought and care that went into this build. As the driver, you get a nice custom black and chrome steering wheel mounted on a tilt column. Beyond that is the original speedometer flanked by round auxiliary readouts. These original gauges and the rest of the dash give you the kind of retro-cool appearance that makes these coupes great. But if you look just below that, there's even provisions for modern R134a air conditioning.Under the hood, the original Mopar inline-six has been ditched for trusty Chevy 350 power. Not only does it have the kind of shine that will make you proud to show it off, but many of those gleaming components are also there as part of reliable upgrades. Just look at the aluminum radiator (w/electric fan) and chrome alternator. This is the kind of custom classic that can fire up on a whim, idle smoothly, and stay worry-free in traffic even with the A/C going. Even with this desirable setup, everyone else will just think you liked this Dodge because the glasspack dual exhaust has that cool rumble. But more than just a reliable runner, with a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes, this is a street rod that will happily go the distance with you. From the outside this looks like a mean machine, but from behind the wheel you instantly feel how much it was a very thoughtful build. You don't see many Dodge Wayfarers anymore, and none this cool or affordable. Call now!!
