Earth Motorcars is proud to offer for sale this absolutely historic, useum quality 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible R/T 440 Six Pack. This history on this car is stunning. Not only was it the FIRST OFFICIAL PACE CAR OF THE ONTARIO MOTOR SPEEDWAY, he Chrysler Registry shows it as the last 1970 Challenger Built!!!!
'70 Dodge Challenger R/T convertibles are rare enough as it is. They made up less than two percent of the total production that year. Rarer still are R/T Six Packs. 99 R/T Six Packs came out of the Hamtramck, ichigan, lant, nd only 38 had automatics. Of those 38, hree are known to have had automatic on the column. One of them was purchased by Ontario Motor Speedway to be its pace car. How's that for rare?THIS ONE IS BELIEVED TO BE THE LAST ONE BUILT PER CHRYSLER'S REGISTRY!!!
In 1970, he fledgling Ontario Motor Speedway wanted to purchase one of the new '71 Challenger pace cars, ut they were slated to go to Daytona. Instead, MS bought this car, hich now looks just as it did when it was delivered to Pomona, alifornia. If OMS couldn't buy a '71 pace car, t would just make its own, nd did, ainting the exterior blue with wide white stripes down each door and black trim on the hood. The seat vinyl was switched out along with a few other items, nd viola--a '71 pace car. "On the old paint job, ou could see where the pace-car stickers had been removed.
When OMS closed after 1981, he car bounced around before finally landing in the hands of a private collector.
This Challenger was ordered with a lot of options, ncluding the performance axle package, orqueFlite automatic, ood pins, umper guards, ower convertible top, adio, ower steering, erformance hood paint, nd the emission-control and noise-reduction packages.
IT DOES RETAIN IT'S ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBERS DRIVETRAIN! AN ORIGINAL BUILD SHEET, RIGINAL CONTRACT, RIGINAL INSURANCE POLICY AND GOVIER DOCUMENTATION WILL ACCOMPANY THE CAR!
If Mopars is what you collector. This is a MUST for your collection!!
