Car description |
---|
#5910 made in late '73 so it is a '74 model. Was bought new at Star Lincoln Mercury in Glendale, California in 1974. I Purchased it from the estate of the original owner in 2006. Car now has 40, xxx miles.
Car comes with it's original :Owners cardOwners manualOriginal sales receiptOriginal window stickerSalesman's business card from the dealershipOriginal key fob with spare keys from selling dealerComplete tool kitSpace saver spare (I don't have a canister)
The car has had a few updates such as:Bronze window lift gears, originals were plastic and known to fail.Original US-spec suspension spring spacers were removed to lower the car to Euro-spec, but the spacers are with the car. Much of the smog equipment was removed but I have everything.Original exhaust manifolds were known to crack, manifolds were upgraded to one of the period replacements (possibly GTS) but originals are with the car (one is cracked).About 70% of the paint on the car is original. I have not found any evidence of the car being in major accidents. The daughter of the original owner indicated that the car had been keyed in a parking lot years ago and was spot-painted. Spot painting is now cracked and doesn't show especially well up-close.
The car is by no means perfect, it has a few dings and a shallow crease about 12" long (horizontal plane) below the rear bumper which is difficult to see unless you get under the car. It appears as though the bumper was pushed in on its absorbing struts and just barely made contact with the underside of the body.
Car has always been garaged.Interior is as-delivered.Dealer installed radio is intact but does not function because I removed the wiring to the speakers because it had been so poorly routed that it looked terrible and besides I don't listen to the radio in this car.Dash is crack-free.Instruments all function. Turn signal stalk need to be held in position but signals do function.Chrome trim is very nice and un-pitted.Headliner has just begun to come down as they all do but it is in excellent condition.Glass is in excellent condition, not pitted or scratched.
Drivetrain and motor are mostly original, down to spark-plug heat protectors and carburetor which just started giving some trouble last season, I believe the clutch master cylinder is going to need replacement or a rebuild as it is now requiring a couple pumps when the car sits for a few or more weeks. I will get the car to a shop this week and get photos of the underside. There are also some photos of the good, bad and uglyon this car at the Pantera registry. I will update this ad as things come up,Please email with anyquestions.
