Car description |

Original configuration Panteras are a rarity, especially the chrome bumper 1972 model. This gorgeous examplehas zero rust and has lived a pampered life in California, Texas, Florida and Georgia. It received a comprehensive restoration in 2002 with over $40k in restoration and maintenance receipts included. The car was stripped to bare metal and all glass was removed to install all new rubber and weather stripping.
If you are looking at this listing, most likely you know lots of details on these vintage Italian American supercars. The driving experience has a large wow factor and looking at the car gives great pleasure at any angle.
This car has not been molested. It has been carefully and thoughtfully preserved and maintained. There is no unsightly hole cut in the hood, just a very efficient aluminum radiator to cool her. There are no large grafted on flared wheel arches, just the beautiful original sheet metal that makes these cars so pleasing to look at.
Mechanically, this car has had some desirable upgrades and fortunately all the original parts were safely put into storage and are included with the car. For instance, the original castiron intake manifold weighs 50 pounds and the engine now has a high performance aluminum intake that weighs about 5 pounds. The carburetor has been upgraded from the Ford Autolite to a Holley 700 CFM. Thisis the standardaftermarket improvement sold by todays Pantera dealers. The engine has a "dress-up" kit which includes "Pantera" aluminum valve covers and air cleaner with a K&N air filter. The original steel purge and oil reservoir tanks are now polished stainless steel. TheA/C compressor and system has been upgraded to themodern 134a andfeatures a low resistance and compact Sandon compressor. TheAnsa exhaust system is new and the Headers are new with Jet-Hot coating.
The engine itself is original and does not have a wild camshaft, just what came with this 351 Cleveland. The clutchand hydraulic slave cylinder were all replaced as well at the time of restoration. The engine has excellent oil pressure and runs in the middle of the temperature gauge in 80 degree temperature currently. I just drove the car today. As long as you are moving forward in 100 degree heat with the A/C on in hot Georgia summer climate the temperature gauge is still in the comfort zone. I live in the country and do not have traffic jams to contend with. Remember, no hole/vent in the hood of this car. I sure hope it stays this way in the future.
Both electric windows are working properly. The electric motors were rebuilt during the restoration process. There are no cracks or scratches in the windshield.
The paint and body are about a 9.8 on a scale of 10. No real dings or dents to speak of, but it is 15 years old.It is base/clear process and to be picky, the car could be color sanded and buffed by a very skilled professional one more time to get it to be a 9.99 quality.
This car is definitely good enough to cross an RM, Gooding or Bonhams auctionblock and people will be wowed.
The wheels are the original to the car. It has the original tool roll, inflatable spare tire and propellant can. Interior is completely original and the seat foam bottoms were replaced.
I just replace the engine deck gas shocks.
All the lights and turn signals are working properly. Notice, that the original stainless trim around all the glass is original and highly polished, unlike so many that havebeen covered up with paint due to oxidation andpoor condition.
Provenance. This car has the original dealer invoice and the price was $9,000 in 1972. I have the work records and restoration invoices, factory parts manual, owners handbook and two sets of keys, plus restoration pictures verifying theoverall paint job.The pictures show this in this listing.
What is not to like about this 1972 Detomaso Pantera? It's nicer in real life than in the pictures. That's all I can say. If you are looking for a very nice chrome bumper Pantera, this car is certainly worth considering. If any Pantera is going to double in price in the next few years due to consumer demand and investor speculation, this is one of the more desirable.
Car will be sold on a signed Georgia State registration certificate which serves as our title for older cars in most Southern States. The document along with a bill of sale converts to a title in most States. Dealers know all about this. Please check with your local DMV. They have these records and I will also include a copy of the Georgia law stating the above and it can also be accessed on the Internet via Georgia Law.Gov. It's just the way it is down here for most old cars.
