Car description

You are bidding on a completely original, low mileage and low owner 1981 DeLorean DMC-12. Black leather interior with Automatic transmission, original black body stripe and only 20,422 miles.

This particular car being VIN# 1893 is a very early 1981 production model making it one of the very first produced. As such it has all of the desirable early production differences to the later cars (dark grey wheels, fuel flap hood, integrated radio antennae, etc.), making it one of the most sought after and collectable of all DeLoreans.

The exterior of the car is in very good condition. The stainless steel itself and by far the most important aspect of the DeLorean, is essentially flawless. Difficult to find in these cars as they are getting older. The painted parts (front and rear bumper) and Louvres also present well, but would need a freshening to make them Concours quality. All painted wheels and glass are also in nice shape.

The interior of the car (seats, cockpit, carpet, door panels and dash) are also in very good condition. The dash top and binnacle both have absolutely no cracking or fading whatsoever. Extremely difficult to find in almost any DeLorean. The black leather seats show very little wear as would be expected of a low mileage car with just the right amount of patina. Of course the factory radio, original keys as well as the rest of the interior is original and in working order. DMC floor mats are also present and show well.

Mechanically the car runs and drives as would be expected. It starts easily, idles great and runs strong with the transmission and brakes all working as they should. Lights, gauges, etc. are also all working properly. The engine compartment is neat and tidy and looks as though it just left the factory still sporting its original plastic coolant bottle.

All 5 factory wheels are present and in good condition while riding on practically new P195/60R14 front and P215/65R15 rear Road Hugger Radial G/T tires. Although no longer shod with the factory NCT tires, they do still come with the car. Could be used for future Concours events or simply to attest to the cars overall originality.

Included as well are all original owner's manuals and factory documentation including service manual and factory workshop manual as well as factory stainless steel detailing kit.
