Up for sale is a 1980 Datsun 280zx 2+2 5 speed manual one owner (my father) car. Car is in great shape body is very clean, very well taken care of and always stored in a garage. Only selling because I don’t have room anymore and I don’t drive it very often.
Body: Very straight, absolutely no rust. 100% rust free, which I know is rare for these cars. Car was repainted its original color in 1998 and done professionally. At this time the turbo decals were installed even though it is a non-turbo car. Body does not have dents. Paint looks good and shines really well. It does have a few defects though and I took pictures of all of them. Had to zoom in because you can’t notice a lot of them from 3 feet away. RH rear quarter has 2 chips, one is 2mm diameter circle, the other is about 2mm wide and 15mm long. LH front fender had a small 2mm chip. Hood has some of the clear cracking and some orange peel on it. Pictures are all taken of those things and posted them in the order I described them. Bumpers are in good shape, chrome is shiny, black plastic looks great.
Drivetrain: Engine is L28 inline 6 and is the original engine.Runs good and strong, does not smoke or knock. It does leak a little bit of oil and antifreeze after it’s been sitting for a while.Transmission is original and shift well and clutch is strong and does not slip. Axles are good and differential s quiet and strong. I greased the hard to get to fittings on the driveshaft and axle shafts recently. I did install a electric exhaust cutout myself. I did not cut up the original exhaust, I removed the cat and made a test pipe and welded the Y-pipe into that. It is high quality professional install and sounds really good with the 6 cylinder. I still have the original cat and can return it back to stock if you would like.
Interior: great shape, cloth seats are good and clean and no rips or tears. It is 2+2 and the rear seats fold down. All gauges work and power mirrors and windows. A/C blows ICE cold. Has the original R12 system. Works really well. Heat works too, Cruise control,windshield/wipers and all the lights work.Original radio and cassette player.Dash does have about a 3 inch crack.
Miscellaneous: Brakes (pads and rotors) and alternator were replaced within the last 5000 miles. Tires are Goodyear and have plenty of tread. Wheels are original and do have some pitting in the chrome. Exhaust is good with no leaks. Power steering and power brakes, both work well. Steering is tight and suspension is great. Window glass is good with no cracks, trim is in good shape.
Extras: I have the original service manual and other literature that comes with the purchase of the car, as well as a front bra, and new seat covers (pictured), a lot of receipts of stuff that was bought for it, car cover, extra lug nuts, some other miscellaneous parts, and original catalytic converter.
Feel free to ask questions and I have more pictures if you would like to see them. Ebay only let me list 24. Payment is cashiers check or cash money. If cashier’s check I will not sign over the title until my bank clears the check, which usually takes 3 business days. Cash is best.
Overall: Very solid car, runs and drives great. Body is in exceptional shape. I would give it 8.8/10
