Car description |

West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely barn-fresh (garage really!) find of this rare original southern California owner 1981 Datsun 280ZX GL 2+2 Coupe with its original 2.8L 6 cylinder engine with 50K original miles, desirable 5 speed manual transmission, T-Bar Roof with sunshade windshield, air conditioning, original cloth velour seats, AM/FM stereo/cassette, alloy wheels with 'Z' inserts, power assisted 4 wheel disc brakes, power steering, power windows & cruise control!
The Datsun 280ZX was built between the years 1979-83 and was the latest incarnation of the 240Z (1970-73), the 260Z (1974), the 280Z (1975-78), with the initial 240Z having been voted by 'Sports Car International' the number two car on the list of the 'Top Sports Cars of the 1970's'! One of the most appealing Japanese cars ever produced, the later 280ZX model which was built until 1983 had a longer stroke of 2.8L from its predecessors.
This is a rare all original and stock example with it's original engine and with all of it's original factory specifications and options intact! Always primarily serviced at either Nissan dealerships or 'Z' specialists since new with original sales documentation from it's original southern California owners who purchased the car at 'Miller Imports, Inc', the Datsun dealership of Van Nuys, CA on 2/19/1981.
The car had been garaged parked for several years until we purchased it and got it running again. The car has been well cared but does have some cosmetic imperfections from use over the years. There are some very minor paint chips and scratches etc and we would consider the car a very good running project for either the 'Z' enthusiast to restore further or simply a fun driver for anyone else as it is. It has a new clutch and starter motor and all the fluids and oils have been changed. The car has a straight body with very nice paint and no signs of any major accidents or bondo. The car has it's original factory cloth/velour interior which is also in remarkably good and original condition throughout. The engine is extremely strong and the transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, a simply lovely car to drive.
This is a rare opportunity to own a very rare and internationally desirable 1981 legendary Datsun 280ZX, - owned by obviously only very mature southern California family owners since new and with only 50K original miles with the highly desirable 5 speed manual transmission!
