Car description

Mostly original unmolested early production 9/70 Series 1 Datsun 240Z with a CLEAN OPEN title. THIS IS A DOCUMENTED SERIES 1 240Z legally titled here in Colorado as a 1971. The production date is 9/70, the VIN # falls in the later 10*** range. This car was likely sold NEW in very early 1971, thus titled as 1971. AGAIN, this is a documented Series 1 240Z! This is a NUMBERS MATCHING CAR! The original odometer reads 05437, so I know it has turned over once..........based on the originality, I BELIEVE this car has 105437 miles on it, but there is no documentation on this!
This car was sold NEW in Colorado........I have some paperwork showing this. I have a few other old invoices. I have the original owners manual & Datsun warranty booklet. I have the original matching ignition, door & hatch keys. This car was a daily driver for many years, but had been sitting for approximately 15++ years. Originally a red car, had been re-painted red at some point. This car had a vinyl top installed in 1975 (have receipt!), so there are rivets on the body where the vinyl top TRIM mounted. The car took a light bump in the front at some point, so the radiator core support will need some light repair work to be perfect (see pics from underneath the car), but the outer panels are good, including the correct vented Series 1 rear hatch. The rear wheel arches & the lower doglegs in front of the rear wheels ARE ROTTED OUT, but the rest of the chassis is actually pretty solid, including the floor pans, the frame rails, the subframe rails etc etc, with only a few other small rust areas (see multiple pics!).........not rotted like many other Z's! The drivers side is worse than the passenger side, but again, replacement patch panels are readily available for the wheel arch & dogleg areas (NOT included!). The doors open & close as they should! This is a GREAT candidate for a full restoration/build!
I have had the car up on a lift (see pics), and again, it is a pretty solid chassis! I have a few more detailed pics of the underside, but could only post what I could. Please message me with ANY questions! As always, it is best to come look at the car, but I also realize that you might be an out of state potential buyer...................I will work with you as best as I can!
The interior has most of the original Series 1 parts......steering wheel, center console, plastic cubby boxes behind the seats, rear hatch plastic trim, original Hitachi AM radio with the electric antenna switch next to it etc etc, but the vinyl is pretty well baked from the Colorado sun. NO I WILL NOT SELL ANY PARTS OFF OF THIS CAR!!!! I have NEW OEM plastic "240Z" C pillar emblems in the box & a NEW OEM plastic "Datsun" script for the rear hatch in a box, although this particular "Datsun" script is the "brushed aluminum" look of the later 1974 260Z, not shiny chrome of the 240Z & a NEW OEM plastic "240Z" emblem for the rear hatch in a box. I will also include the original metal "Datsun" script for the hatch, but the detail paint is worn off. Both of the "DATSUN" front fender emblems are in place, have a broken stud, so are in fair condition. The original dash is intact, but has a few of the typical cracks on top. I also have a set of four "Z" hubcaps that came with the car.............they are included.
This car has the NUMBERS MATCHING L24 in it. IT DOES NOT RUN, but it DID rotate on a jump. I have NOT tried to start it, as it will need some pre-start preparation ie the fuel, oil & ignition systems, as it has been sitting for 15++ years. This car also has a correct early production 3pc 4speed transmission, but there are no numbers to connect it to the car itself..........there were no manufacturer records or documentation for this! The engine compartment appears to have most if not all of the correct parts.
This car is an easy roller, all tires are holding air, but are old & narly! I CAN HELP WITH LOADING, BUT BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PICK UP OR TRANSPORTATION LOGISTICS!! Sorry, there are NO SPARE PARTS with this car. NO RESERVE! Please be a smart individual, and ask questions ONLY if you are able & willing to purchase this PROJECT CAR!! Thank you for looking!
