1967 1/2 Datsun 2000 Custom Roadster Speedster
This beautiful custom Rotisserie build Datsun Roadster is ready for a new owner to enjoy.
The car has been prepared for street use utilizing a pump gas tune engine that was slightly improved for more streetperformance.
The cosmetic preparation is a tribute to one of the most famous and attractive racing Datsun Roadster livery's of the1960's.
The car has a clean California Title and Registration. The car has been driven about 300 miles on the street to sort outany issues since the build and drives solid and reliable. The car is licensed and registered but is currently in Non Opstatus as I have been busy with several other car projects. I have not been stopped or given any fix it tickets. Resultsmay vary depending on your location, attitude, and officer asking questions.
This project startedwith a clean Californiadesert carthat had been off the road since the early 1970's, then the body was removed from the frame and installed on a Rotisserie where some of the floors were replaced andperforming any repairs needed on the body including slight rear fender flares in all steel. The frame was then installed on aRotisserie and any repairs and modifications were done and paint applied. The paint is very attractive, although hasshrunk in the past year making it less of a concourse paint job and more of a five to ten foot nice paint. Theorange is painted, the white is all decals.
The build focus was to reduce weight and keep very simple forreliability and weight. Original parts were used where practical and component weight was given priority considerationthroughout the assembly. The car retains few stock or original parts. The parts list from the build includes Nissancomp springs, super rare Nissan Comp Big Brake kit, Carerra Racing Shocks, Racing alignment including front camberadjustment, New exhaust from header back, custom steering wheel, stainless steel braided brake and clutch lines,Airhart Magnesium master cylinder, A four speed transmission was used for reduced weight, tie down loops on rearspring mounts for towing, Racing seat belts, but expired for racing use, Oddessy lightweightracing battery. New custom upholstery on stock seats. Leather was used for door stops, inner door handles, and hand laced wiring harness cover. The rear endratio is a more performance oriented 3.9 with an open differential. Non original speedo/odo so mileage unknown, although stored most it's life so probably low mile car. No horn,No wipers. Alloy Wheels and Michelin Tires with .170 treaddepth. A considerable effort was spent to reduce weight which was rewarded with a completed weight of just over 1,600pounds which gives a lively performance as that is not much heavier than an 1960's Lotus Elan.
The Engine was purchased as a low hour rebuild from a car built for auto cross use. Then the engine wasdisassembled, inspected, the bores were honed, valves lapped, a hotter cam installed, and then painted. The pistonsand rods appeared to be lightened and balanced. The SU style carbs were disassembled, cleaned and inspected. Theignition was updated to an optical trigger high energy ignition. The compression appeared to be standard, and the carruns on premium gas.
Known Issues with the car: There is an oil leak at the back of the motor. I put cardboard down and get some oil, but theoil level has not moved on dipstick I do not have a lift, so have not investigated further. The chrome parts have surface pitting, taillights are faded and cracked. Both doors appear to have been replaced at some point in time as one door has some welding around inside door latchhandle (under door panel), and the passenger side has uneven gap. Front turn signals wired but not connected. Headlights wired, not sure if connected after paint. Some paint wrinkle near master cylinder on firewall, but have not found a leak, so may be a spill fromfilling reservoir. Gas gage quit working, although there is a calibratedfuel level rod. If you like originalitythis may not be the car for you as there is little factory original to the car.
The car is ideal for Cars and Coffee events. Also would be great fun for vintage car rally's and car show venue's where the owner may alsowant to drive and enjoy the performance orientation of the car along with having something veryunique beyond the usual production cars. It is very popular and unique which starts up conversations.
Please review the pictures carefully as they are to be considered part of the listing information and representation of thecar as there is more to the car build than can remember and list. Feel Free to email or call Four 08-578-82three2 with any questions. Will be glad to show car or send specificpictures you may want. I have sold cars and parts to Europe and Austrailia. Can help coordinate for you some, but youhave to have your shipper pick up at my home. $500 deposit is required within three days, balance of funds need to bewired within five working days from close of auction or will cancel transaction and refund will not be returned. Car andtitle released when funds clear bank. Thank you and Good luck Bidding.
