Car description

This 280ZX is a fun and comfortable sports car. It's really more like a Grand Touring (GT) car with power everything and a killer stereo. Motor Trend named it Import Car of the Year when it was introduced and it went on to win SCCA and IMSA races and a new generation of fans too. Check it out. Z cars, now in their 6th generation, have kept a certain family resemblance throughout the years. Primarily, that is...because they have stayed true to their mission. They are two seat, hatchback sportscars. There is a long hood with a powerful motor under it. The roofline only has to cover the driver and passenger, and then slopes down in a big useful hatch. This was a rust-free car that was taken down to bare metal before being brought back in the factory correct Marine Blue paint. Up front the hood slopes all the way down to the bumper. Air comes in through the grill under the bumper and escapes out vents near the cowl in the hood. Headlights are carved back into the fenders with a 280ZX badge on them, and rocker trim connects the fender wells. The window trim all shines bright and the rear quarter glass gets a polished vent. The large rear hatch offers great visibility out and great access into it with a Datsun 280ZX badge on it. Open the door and you will find a nice Blue and Gray interior. The gray door panel has a long armrest with the power window switches just at your fingertips. The blue velour high back bucket seats are comfortable and supportive. The unique two spoke steering wheel lets you place your hands anywhere you want and sits in front of a stock dash with the speedo and tach in front of the driver and fuel and water temp off to the sides. Three more gauges are mounted in the center and tilted toward the driver for oil pressure and voltage. Below them are the controls for the ventilation system that includes nice cold R-134 A/C and a Kenwood FM/CD/iPod compatible stereo. The shifter for the 5-speed manual trans just begs to be stirred around and there is comfortable console to rest your arm on. The hatch area is huge and access to it is easy from both the inside and outside of the car. Under that long hood is a 2.8-liter, overhead cam, fuel injected engine that makes great low-end torque and loves to rev too. There is an aluminum valve cover that says Nissan, which is interesting because these were the transitional cars when they were phasing in Nissan as their global branding, so it still says "Datsun" on the hatch too. The engine is stock and shows signs of good regular maintenance with the ignition components, belts and hoses all in good shape. Power is sent back through that 5-speed transmission that just received a new clutch to the fully independent rear suspension located by semi trailing arms with a sway bar and new calipers clamping the rear disc brakes. The front suspension is a MacPherson strut setup with a sway bar and big disc brakes that will haul this car down in a hurry. The rubber meets the road through 205/70R14 BFGoodrich Radial T/As mounted on 6-spoke alloy wheels. This is a very capable sportscar that you can comfortably drive every day. Come on down and check it out.
