Car description |
---|
This 1971 Datsun 240Z is a numbers-matching L24 inline-six. A 280ZX 5-speed manual transmission has been fitted in place of the original 4-speed unit, and the five-digit odometer currently indicates 85k miles.
The body was disassembled prior to being repainted in the factory Silver (901). According to the previous owner, original rockers, wheel arches, and other key areas were solid when he acquired the car. Front and rear bumpers are original with new impact strips, and Japanese-style fender mirrors were added along with 16` Konig Rewind wheels.
Glass is original with exception of windshield, and new weatherstripping has been installed.
The interior features new black vinyl upholstery, as well as replacement door panels, headliner, and sound deadening. The original dash has been fitted with a plastic cap. The gauges, lights, and switches work exactly as it should
This car was originally equipped with air conditioning, although it is not currently hooked up.
The 2.4-liter L24 inline-six was torn-down and inspected prior to being rebuilt to factory specifications. Work included fitting a polished crank, standard bearings and rings, a new timing set, redone cylinder head, honing the cylinders, and all new gaskets and seals.
The suspension was disassembled, sandblasted, and powder coated prior to being reinstalled with new energy suspension bushings and Vogtland lowering springs. Brakes and hydraulics were also gone through, including replacement of all rubber hoses and internal brake components.
