Car description |
---|
This Safari/Outlander style 1973 Datsun 240z was built as a tribute to the old Safari styles back in the day, but also the Peking Rally style car to make it a fun daily driver usable blend of the two styles. All the components on this car was custom built to fit the car rather than some piece together hodgepodge or catalog parts that actually don’t fit, so there was thousands of dollars and a lot of time spent to build all the accessories for a Bolt On Application using existing mounting points, so this car IS NOT CUT UP OR ALTERED where it cannot go back to stock very easily. The car is outfitted with front and rear aluminum skid plates that protect the oil pan and fuel tank against bottoming out or scrapping, and these plates bolt the the front and rear bumper mounting/reinforcement tubes that mount in several strong points, so the car can be strapped and lifted in the air by the bumpers on either end with no issue. The Roof Rack and Spare Tire assembly are bolted right into the main roof structure of the car using industrial thread serts that give it an extremely rigid mounting that also reinforces the body for extra rigidity, and all this is done in a clean and fitting fashion that is complimentary versus strictly utility.
The car is a 60k original mile and Original Paint Survivor Car that was well maintained and sparing used over its life, so it was Never a rescued pasture car or something that had to be brought back from the dead, which we all know how hard it is to find a very clean original survivor like this in the Rusty World of the 240z. The Battery Box Area, Original Floors, Spare Tire Sump, and Engine Bay are original and still wearing the unbelievably clean original paint like the rest of the hard to see or covered areas.
With that being said, the car is wearing its Original Paint with chips, scratches, and battle scars here or there, and I must offer the reason the car has gone the Safari Accessory direction is due to wanting to make the original brown paint work being it was so decent and there was no need of a restoration with this car, and I really felt that saving the paint and it’s character really plays well with the Safari/Outlander appearance package.
The car is a numbers matching motor with the factory 4-speed and working dealer add on Air Conditioning, and I currently daily drive this car now and have been for some time. Being the car is still the All Original Powertrain and Suspension, it qualifies for many historic race events including the Peking Rally and many U.S. based events, so this car is really the best of both worlds with the fun potential. Don’t miss out on this unique 240z offering that is a super cool and dependable urban warrior that can be used for Camping, Lake Trips, Hunting and Fishing in the woods, or just cruising to the grocery store and back. The car comes with the early 13’ 1950’s Wood Top Canoe that rides beautifully mounted on the roof rack, along with the original canoe oars and mounting that is also solidly mounted to the custom roof rack. All the lighting is wired and working properly, and they are powered up by a two altenator system that supplies the necessary extra amperage to keep them and the battery at full capacity.
The original spare tire hole is now storing basic off-road necessities like Straps, Jack Accessories, Tarp, and other items neatly tucked away under the new industrial rubber floor mat. The front floor boards also have the same industrial rubber mats made so the car can be kept cleaner with off-road use than carpet would ever allow, and the rubber mats were chosen over any type of coating in order to keep the originality of the perfect floors.
Sadly EBay doesn’t offer enough picture ability to completely show how nice this car is, and I have hundreds of pics of every nook and cranny of this car, so please feel free to contact me directly and I will be happy to send details and pics of what every you need show that this car is not a needing restoration or to be refreshed example. This car is not being offered for what a cut up or needing restoration car would sell for, because this car is a very well maintained and very original ready to go Survivor Car that was accessorized as a nod to the past race history and capability these cars had, so it will fit right into any real 240z collection and draw way more attention than the rest of the Cookie Cutter typical builds.
Below are YouTube video links. In the last video, please ignore the squeaky passenger seat, it was new and has since been lubed properly.
