Car description

Selling my '77 280z to make room in the garage for other projects. I purchased the car out of Dallas in 2006. I am the third owner, with two previous owners residing in Dallas. Quite a bit of documentation from the original owner is included with sale.Second owner had a later model motor and 5 speed transmission installed. Car runs well, pulls hard and shifts smoothly.
After purchasing the Z in 2006, I installed the following: New Upholstery, New Carpet, Sound Deadener, Sony Stereo, Motorsport Rear Speaker Enclosure, Nardi Steering Wheel (very comfortable). New mechanicals included, Tokico Adjustable Shocks and Springs, Sway Bars, Energy Suspension Bushings Throughout, Stainless Braided Brake Lines, Tie Rod Ends, Rebuilt Injectors and Motorsport 2.5" Exhaust. Exhaust is connected to stock manifold. I replaced original wheels with a set of 280ZX 15" Turbo Wheels that are in excellent condition. Tires were replaced in the last year and have less than 50 miles on them. Handling is tight and ride is firm.
All vehicle lighting is functioning as it should. Fuel light remains on despite having nearly full tank. Clock was converted to operate off of a AA battery by previous owner, but I removed the battery years ago and failed to replace it. I cannot attest to its function at this time. If I think about it, I will put a new battery in and see how it works.
In terms of body condition, most importantly, the car is solid and virtually rust free. I use the word "virtually" because there is one small spot on lower passenger fender that has appeared in the last year. Spot is shown in images. It has not penetrated the metal. The frame rails and underside are rust-free and in excellent condition. Paint is the one area that I wish I had been able to address over the years. The previous owner had the car painted in its factory silver color, but quality of paint job was marginal. It is a good 20' job, but it would definitely benefit from a quality repaint. Body damage is limited to a few small indentations on roof and dent on driver's side rocker panel that was the result of the car being set down on a jack stand that had not been cleared from beneath. Images of these areas are also included in listing. Roof indentations are difficult to capture in pictures. Remainder of body is excellent. Chrome throughout car is in very good to excellent condition on exterior and interior.
Items not in working order are air conditioning and heater. A/C is present and appears to be complete. I have not looked into what issue there may be. All components appear to be original to the car. I suppose that age is a factor. As for the heater, the core was bypassed by the previous owner. I suspect that a bad heater core and/or control valve are at fault. Radio antenna is also not in place. Key turns, but does not unlock driver's side door. I think that it may be an adjustment issue. Other locks function as they should with key.
Though not perfect, I feel as if this is a solid example that would be great candidate for taking the rest of the way without significant investment. If I had the space, and time, I would probably hang onto it and see the restoration through to completion. I have described the car honestly and to the best of my ability. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will provide answers as quickly and completely as I can. If additional images are needed, please request and I will send them as soon as I am able.
I can assist with delivery of the car to a local pick-up point for out of town purchases, where carrier delivery would be required. Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. Car is sold as is, without any warranties expressed or implied.
Thank you for viewing this auction. Best of luck, should you wish to bid.
